Facts! I love them but Im a sucker for the the anodized blue, if king never existed I’d go with Elka over Fox, Bilstein, OME, or Icon all day

Read everything and see the context of his comment and you will see how it's stated that using elka is not "doing it right"

Thank you for that insight, but like any hobby/sport there is a beginner and expert niche, I am of course a beginner and there are probably many like me who want what I want with the 3.0s and have a similar setup. I’m doing this because I want to be able to answer the questions of the people that want to do this but don’t want to spend 7k+ to find out they need something else or whatever the case may be. For me, I’m willing to make the sacrifice and do that for all of you guys because I like these shocks, how they look, and the potential that they carry. Believe me I’ve been looking and there are two or three people that have these shocks that have posted something on this site, that have either A. Shown they’re “journey” and have gone into depth about what they’ve spent which are all billet parts, bottom line I don’t have an extra 4 grand for. Or B. Have installed them just to show off. Both cases leave a lot of unanswered questions. Hopefully this thread will be of use when I have installed these.

Elka started making Tacoma shocks in 2018/2019.

How long have the other 4 companies been making truck and prerunner shocks?

also I wasn’t bagging on the Elkas themselves more so you put 2.0s on the front. Compare any of the brands 2.5s to the 2.0s and you’re going to be upgrading to the 2.5 sooner or later.

I legit didn’t even read elkas, I read 2.0 and immediately pictured the factory fox shock replacement that’s the same as the pros shock

I don’t know Elkas well but they’re on the newer side to trucks but been with atv/utv since 2000s and I haven’t personally met anyone who runs them yet so I won’t say good or bad

i been seeing videos on instagram of a dude with 3.0s and they visually look like they handle ridiculously good. remember these are also an internal bypass shock (similar setup to bilsteins ride zone system). they are probably the absolute best riding option for stock width arms but are at one hell of a premium price

Nice! I wonder what the additional brackets on the top and bottom of the rear shocks are?

its just to adapt the eyelet style mount to the stud mount since they dont have a proprietary top cap for the 3" body shocks

Replace the shitty shouldered lower strut bolts while you're there and thank me later. First few posts talk about the issue, post #7 shows where to get new bolts

KINGS ARE ON! Stock LCA’s work with these on the 2016-2023 Tacoma. Tubular UCA’s are the only style that work with the 3.0s because of the larger diameter coil spring on the 3.0s. 303 Shock Services offer the lower mounting bolt for the front shocks as the OEM ones cause the bearing on the 3.0s to wear prematurely and eventually fail. The rear has the icon AAL and nothing else besides the 3.0s. Happy trailing as I know I will. Hit me here if you have any questions.

i just noticed these have their own bump stop on the shock. i feel like that really wasnt needed being a bypass and the truck itself already having bumps. would limit travel unnecessarily in my mind?

i believe those king bump-stops would help preserve the shocks internal bump-stop in the long run when accidents occur on the trails. Or if someone is jumping it a lot. I definitely don’t need it for what I use my truck for. Do I want it? Who doesn’t?

Those look sweet man! I've been looking into doing more or less the same, still researching, but I keep hearing that king is the best feeling as a daily driver, so that's the direction I'm headed.

Looking to do 35's with it as well, so cab mount relocate is on the agenda. How do you think your uca's would handle a 35? Do they move it forward at all, or is it a more or less identical replacement for the OEM ones, just with a bit more clearance? Trying to limit the amount of cutting I do, so my choice of an uca is going to play a pretty big part in that.
