I actually prefer the one on top functionality wise. It's easier to look at since it's higher, allows you to easily shift your eyes from the road to the screen without having too look down.

Also in this position it reduces sun glare. The screens that are lower and tilted up suck when it comes to that. And the edge of the screen is a great place to stabilize your hand while you use your thumb to press on the screen.

Though Chevy looks to have done a good job with the screen position while also integrating it into the dash.

Maybe today’s teaser is a sneak preview of a $1500 SET port installed distributor option

I’m fine with the cheese gimmicks that a lot of other buyers actually might like, as long as they’re not carving holes into the dash to accommodate them.

This new truck has a very high ceiling as long as the real engineers keep the marketing focus group types away from it. I’m also starting to think that the best version of Gen4 might end up being the cheapest one you can get w a rear locker…

2024, removable speaker. Nice. I may have predicted that some months ago in this thread, not.

That pop up screen looks pretty substantial..... Hopefully its more visually pleasing like the Tundra than bolt-on-afterthought Rav-4 style

Also hope the speaker thing is an option and not standard.... *Decline*

The speaker was said to be optional, but probably comes with the premium package or something like that and standard on Pro

My bet will be it comes on only the advanced off road package, Pro, and TrailHunter - if there is one. Unless they break down the packages like they do the mirrors with the tundra lmao

That’s been done. A Jeep Patriot my wife had 15 years ago had one. I don’t think it was ever used along with the flip down speakers on the hatch door. It’s just stupid gimmicks. Who doesn’t already own a bunch of flash lights and Bluetooth speakers? That tailgate lip is also dumb. It looks like it will make installing a tailgate pad bike holder a pain and also possibly interfere with long items in the bed like ladders and kayaks.

Same, my old truck had a GPS mounted to the top of the dash. That will nice for us guys who like to plunk around on Forest Service roads. Screen now is too small to pan out on and still see details.

One that’ll bounce off all the dummies in the crash tests. Just like the speaker?

    One hopes.

    A few.
Most people have been focused on the speaker but overlooking the design of the new hood.

What is the target market of the removable speaker? Hipsters and/or 12-year-old girls?

I think it will prob be only on the Trail Hunter and maybe the Pro. Seems like all the teasers are directed towards them. Even though I would say the Pro only accounts for 5% of all Tacoma sales.

Seems like that’s how manufactures advertise. Chevrolet shows the ZR2 trim the most on the new Colorado even though they aren’t even available yet I believe.

“Halo cars” have been around since forever. A Corvette in the showroom brings in the customers, and they leave with an Impala and a smile.

I wonder if they will extend the Trailhunter trim to the 4Runner and/or RAV4.
