I just remembered this, wonder if anyone else here does?
In 1965 Ann Francis starred in a TV detective show, Honey West. Lasted about six months. Her car....a 289 Cobra

Ah yes the Ann’s! My father was in love with Ann Francis and Ann Margret. I remember the show because of him.

I always think it’s strange to see a Ford with a Chevy or Mopar power plant. Or vice versa.

I remember the days when you could buy a Cuda or Challenger, then go to the junkyard and find an old Fury grocery getter with a clean 383 and poof you have yourself a bad ass hot rod! :burnrubber:

I'm surprised I don't. I would have been 10, but I got to watch Route 66 most times for the vette, and that had ended by then. I got to watch anything with cool cars, at least before bed time!

I can't imagine teenagers today swapping out a K frame and changing a small block to a big block in their parents driveway! 1970 Cuda

Don't remember doing that, however I do remember having a power glide thans sat on my chest to slide under a 67 Impala on a creeper to hook it up. Replacing a couple front clips and such. The group I hung around was into GM, Chevy, Pontiac and GMC. Mopar wasn't in our vocabulary.

The closest I ever came to a fast car was ....
A guy I knew in high school, and joined the Navy together, Dusty Cameron, had an uncle ... Lee Cameron, that was a record holder in his class "D Automatic" (If I recall), out of Sacramento California in 70/71. "Mopar, goes faster, longer" was the saying. (?)

I had a buddy that had gotten a 65 Impala free with a 327 that had a hole in a piston. He rebuilt that cylinder with/o honing the cylinder. That thing was fast but it would lay down a smoke screen.from hell. We ran 90 weight gear lube and a can of STP and go through a 1.5gts a night. We were so stupid we thought it was so funny driving though a A&W hit the parking lot with enough momentum to go around the loop in neutral and the engine reved up. You couldn't see the lot when we left. Some other stupid stuff. Mount a bald tire on the back pour transmission fluid over the tire and power brake it till it blew. The cloud that would make was incredible. Stupid intertainment that 17yr olds did. That kid ended up becoming a Chrysler mechanic specialized in transmission repair. We ended up pitting for a year for a streetcar dirt track crew. It was fun but we were hated by the Sprints and super stock teams because our cars cut ruts in the track. It caused the Sprints to leave. They had a guy flip and loose a hand or fingers when it flew out the and cut off between the roll bar and ground.

I will not confess to burying the 120 mph speedo on the 66 Galaxie 390 on some long, straight, Michigan backroads. When I figured that the tires were no longer on the ground, I quit that - but it never happened.
I would not go that fast again for a decade, when I had the stock car. And was passed rapidly on the track doing the same speed.....

Fun to think of the automotive hardware that graced my families southern Missouri driveway over the years. Not mine - but fellow street prowlers - AAR 'Cuda, Bobby Mayfield's 427 Cobra, '64 Chevelle with a tall block 427, supercharged Studebaker (that nearly killed my friend Kevin) and so-on. Just wish I'd had the nifty pocket digital cameras everyone totes today.........

Ford used the nerfs on their racing birds of the era - had to build my own!

    Good morning fellow Porchatonians!!!

Ahh, for the good old days of cars. My first was a 64 Falcon convertible followed quickly by a '66 Mustang coupe and then a 70 Boss 302 Fastback. My first above 100 experience - of course it never really happened - wasin my father's 68 Galaxie 500 one night on a back road here in PA. Years later, it happened regularly when I was in Germany on my first assignment and bought a '80 Saab 900turbo - back then I could cruise it at 120 mph on the autobahn. We'll it had the speed limited speedometer back then so it was really just 2 miles per minute. :D

66 was a good year. The 66 396 Chevelle was one of my favorite cars.

    LOL

Good morning. Not much going on today. Need to clean the smoker getting ready for a chickem cook tonight for dinner.

    Good morning all.

One of my favorite old muscle car memories was my friend Pete from high school. He had a lot of health issues, polio related I think? Spent a bunch of time in a wheel chair and when he could walk braces on both legs. He wasn't really expected to live to see graduation so his family really went overboard with allowing him pretty much anything he wanted to give him a full life while it lasted. Had a '69 Plymouth GTX with a built up 440. He left everyone else drive it he was content just being along for the ride.

Well, after taking with the solar company folks, turns out it was my fault. For some reason, the first email the power company sent me about the final inspection paperwork went into my normal mail. The actual contract they sent an hour later went into my spam folder as did a follow up they sent on Sunday. With us travelling, I managed to miss it. Signed it yesterday afternoon after they told me it had been sent - hopefully, we'll be on line today or tomorrow at the latest.

It is fun talking about cars. It is especially fun at vintage car shows to see some of the younger people look at them, talking about how cool they are. I'm looking at how well they are restored and if mods are done. We grew up in the era that these cars were new and popular. Cars and pick-ups had caricature up till the 80's. Now not so much. My favorites were the boxy Novas, 69 Chevelles, the Cuda's and the 76 cutlass. Have a great day.
