    Hi everyone.

I’m looking for a OR DCLB with a tech package. Want the LB because I frequently transport a 5-1/2 ft brush trimmer that I want to keep out of sight.

A well regarded dealer in SE Michigan says our region just doesn’t get long beds. Another local dealer just sold one, saw it in inventory on the Toyota website. It was pre-purchased, though. They say they can do a preferential build if I make a $500 deposit. Deposit would be refundable if I backed out after they sold the vehicle.

    Estimated 5-7 months until delivery.

is this the state of the market in late April, 2023? Is the preference build path standard operating procedure? Will they even be making 2023’s that far out? I really want a naturally aspirated, non-hybrid power plant.

Thanks in advance. I learned a lot from this forum already.

Best bet is prob shop around even if you have to travel find a dealer that already has it or has it already allocated to them.

When shopping for my truck I told my local dealer I wanted a base model SR with no options. He told me "our market" doesn't get base model SR's.

Needless to say I found one at another dealer.

I'd shop around. It may take bit, but you'll find one.

First dealer told me they don’t make access cabs in trd offroad trim anymore lol only in sr and sr5. I was literally arguing in the showroom with the salesman and the sales manager over this debate that they def make them.. shopped around found what I wanted have my lunar rock access cab fully loaded on the way. I might have to swing back by that first dealer to show the manager haha

BassMan4, if you are in MI and not against driving, look in WI. I have a late March deposit on a LB Sport that was a dealer allocation and is now in freight and should be here in May. I have seen a couple LBs in OR that are listed in the state. Sometimes they have a sale pending (deposit put down) and they just don't list it that way on their web site to keep people inquiring. But I have seen a couple. One dealer in Plover has two listed OR LB, black and a blue. And I suspect these are not sold. Black has advance tech and I think Blue has tech. They are both listed with final VIN #'s, not temp VINs. Good luck.

Do a search on edmunds.com. I found a dozen long bed OR units with a tech pkg. within 500 miles of Detroit.

When did you have that conversation?

Your truck has been in the pipeline (from production confirm) for over 5 months. I don’t know what’s available in your region, but here in NY, your build is no longer available, and it hasn’t been for some time now. 5 months ago I could request your truck; now I can’t.

A couple of months back we were notified that the only way to request an access cab Tacoma for the balance of MY23 was a base SR 4cyl 4X4 with utility package. We also received word that MT production would end after currently allocated trucks, so we are unable to request those either, in any trim or configuration. Our build book has been modified and these configurations are no longer available to preference.

More than likely, your dealer gave you good information and you were fortunate enough to snag one of the last OR Access Cabs that was already allocated but still available.

@DragonPro23 thanks a lot for the update. The last update had the "estimated on the truck for delivery 4/22/2023". Maybe the shipping was delayed because the carrier didn't have a truck long enough to transport the long beds, LOL. I'm in southern AZ so hopefully the truck will arrive by the end of the week :fingerscrossed:.

this was in September, right when the Toyota sight was changing over to the 2023 model. 2022 we’re still being made at that time and they said they weren’t making them for 2023 that 2022 was the last

Thank you @MannyS for the tip. I had been looking at Car Gurus which shows some of them. Now I am chasing the, down.
Thank you @RedRoss, I used to live in Wisconsin, it will give me a reason to go back home. Saw Wilde in West Allis had a couple, but they don’t do out of state business at this time. I will look at the other dealers. How did you find your Sport? Kind of looks like the region Wi is in gets more long beds.
Thank you @Sharpshot610 and @mwb Iwill shop around more.

Finally, after 14 months I picked up my truck.

    Timeline
    - 3/5/22- placed deposit
    - 2/18/23- Finally got an allocation
    - 3/17/23- Truck was built
    - 3/30/23- On ship
    - 4/7/23- Arrived in Newark
    - 4/22/23- Arrived at dealer
    - 4/25/23- Picked it up

14 months was a crazy wait. I had placed a deposit on another 6MT OR at a different dealer in silver, but my local dealer got the allocation for my build 2 months later and it was built a week after the silver one. So, i got my deposit back on the silver one. Thanks to everyone on here for helping to keep me sane this whole time. BTW, this is my first Tacoma!

    I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

    None

When I went back to talk to them some more about it they said they could put an allocation in but where it could take up to 8 months that by that time I might end up with a 2024 model which I like the 2023 models better than the new style
