I could probably use something like that since I wash my vehicles with the water from the cistern. All kinds of nasty crap (literally, damn birds!) in that tank. I run a gallon of bleach through it ever so often.

This is what the filter looks like after only a month or so o_O

Yes, an old picture of the filter I pulled out after moving in, but alas after very little use the new one I put in looked exactly the same... :puke:

You can also use and RV type water filter on your inlet garden hose.. no special fittings.. just screws on .. some people put it on the faucet side.. some people put it on the other end of the hose.

I looked at that option too, they are about 20 micron IIRC and fairly expensive for the capacity I felt, if I had city water that might have been a easier choice.

The water at the garage is pretty rough, it will leave rust/sediment in the toilet every day, with the multiple filters I can use the 40 micron to get the "chunks".

    That isn't so bad...

When I bought the house the fellow told me "you will notice the pressure dropping off", so I really didn't think much of changing the filter. Keep in mind he had two kids, I have none.

A year (or so...) later I noticed the water not tasting so good - that was a nasty filter.
There was so much sediment caked on it you couldn't see the media.

Sometimes in the spring it will get dirty very quickly, usually I change it spring and fall - when I remember - and when I can find the element...

I need to add a filter before the water softener, but due to the jackass who installed the pressure tank didn't put a shut off right off the tank. So, I got to shut off the well pump and somehow drain the big tank. Probably several 5 gallon buckets at a time. They also ran 1/2" copper off of it, so it's no wonder I'm getting pressure issues! Hopefully I can get that 3/4 a 1/2" copper adapter out of the well tee, if not I'll have to cut it off flush and install a 1" FIP x 3/4 PEX barb fitting on there.

For the opening day of turkey season I went to a semi-new place I used to call coyotes at a few years ago. The morning had several toms gobbling on the roost, and at least one came very close, but stayed in the trees rather than coming into the field I was set up in. After they wandered off I scouted the area they flew down into and got some great Intel for my next visit.

In the afternoon I walked our woodlot and the one across the road, where I sat and called some. This guy came in silently and gave me a short peek. After 5 minutes of raking the ground and calling softly, I thought he had skirted around me, but then popped up right in front of me at 15 yards. Anything over 20lbs is big around here, so I'm very lucky.

I've got 5 weeks to get another one, and last year I used every one of those days to get it done. :DIMG_20230425_174357.jpg IMG_20230425_173328.jpg IMG_20230425_181442.jpg

Can't you just shut off the well breaker?

I can, but I have to relieve all the pressure/water in the tank. It's a pretty big one, so that's lots of trips up the basement steps. I could run a hose to the sump pump, but whoever installed it plumbed it into the septic lines o_O

If the water table is high enough to need the sump pump the leach field is already screwed. I wish I could find that guy and slap him! :annoyed:

I've always just opened the hot and cold taps on an easily accessible faucet. By the time I got to the tank, there was no pressure.

    Keep us posted.

Of course I'm cheap so I would run the water into the washing machine to use. ;)

Seeing as Adam is only about 32 then Mrs Green could be, say -- 35! :burnrubber::bikewhoops:

( I don't think my oil pump and main bearings could run with a 35 year old... )

Meh, once I hit 30 it all started going downhill from there. Just the other day I bent down to dry my feet off, moved my foot, and wound up stepping on my "boys". The heck, nobody warned me about all of this! :annoyed:
