Offset is a huge factor in this. Posting the question without discussion of wheel offset is kinda pointless.

Go with 255/80/17 and you won't have rubbing -- or way less than the 285 will.

Running 285/70/R17 BFG KO2s with a 2.5 inch lift and have little to no rubbing. My rubbing was on my fender liners so I just cut the corners off.

For me it seems that if I'm turning at an intersection and there's a big dip, I rub for a sec but haven't really had that since I trimmed the liners.

Same exact thing with me. Only really rubbed on big dips where suspension really compresses.
Op- i originally ran a 3" and it wasnt bad as a daily. Only reason i dropped to 2.5 was getting it aligned was a biotch at 3". If ur running stock uca's its impossible to get aligned in spec. Truck was real darty especially on the hwy. But for a daily 2.5/3" WILL fit 285's. But ur truck will be a pavement queen. Off road is not happening

I'd disagree on the pavement queen with no offroading part. I hit the trails on the weekends and have no problem rubbing. It seems fine unless you're hitting big dips fast, it really pushes your wheels into your fender.

Yes you are correct in that it is not just a pavement queen. I was comming at it like being able to do more than just trails and not rubbing at all. I should have said 285's do fit and for most situations on road and some light offroading you wont rub.

Based on your other thread and this one. Just do the spacer lift and 285s and go flex on some curbs at the mall.

Other then that do what others have said and read through threads that have already covered this.

There're threads that cover wheel spacing if your looking at aftermarket rims to help clear 285s which your not because of your cheap budget.

There're threads that cover lifts to help clear 285s but you don't want to listen because it's expensive.

Dont come here and make a generic thread that's been covered a hundred times, because people are sick of it. This isn't a new truck. Everything and has been done and talked about before.

Chat rooms and Facebook sure, this page is an archive of what people have learned. Read up first then ask. It’s lazy otherwise.

I disagree. This is a forum intended for discourse, questions + answers, learnings, random thoughts, etc.

If it was just a place to state facts it would be a pretty boring place and threads would have 1 post in them.

Don't blame the person asking a question - blame the person giving a lazy answer.

    2" spacer lift, 285/70 R17's and a Softopper.
I run 285/70-17 BFG KO2's on level8 MK6 17x8's with a -12 offset and a 2 inch lift. Had to trim the fender liner at the front just a little and sometimes rubs on the cab mount. (CMC pending)
