    Scanner I think! Maybe a combo! :D

That concept had some great ideas, iirc it had a true 4WD system. The cargo area was great. Odd looking, but what isn’t anymore? Believe it has been reborn as the Mini Cruiser concept, and what is that in background. :p

Probably not. There were so many other options toyota could of gone with for a bluetooth speaker, and they chose the center of the dash..

On the plus side, since there is power going to this dock, its only a matter of time till someone 3d prints a docking station for a dash cam, or phone, or just blank plates. I just hope the truck doesnt show a error on the dash when the speaker is missing.

BTW, harmon (JBL parent company) has been trying to make this a thing for the last 8 years.

This is the first thing I saw. I can't tell you why that is the world's biggest pet peeve of car interiors, but it is. I freaking hate head units that look like grandpa is about to break out the kodachrome slides from his latest vacation. The fact that they can't fit a screen into the solid half-acre of truck dashboard that already exists... :annoyed:

Seriously, that makes me not want to even test drive it.

I'd settle for no screen if that was a option. Like the Tundra there may be more than one screen option. That screen on the upcoming Ranger isn't something that I like, but it is more integrated.

What happened to small trucks with no frills interiors?

Something that could accommodate and hand held GRMS radios might not be bad. Better off in the console. Maybe an airfryer, or a popcorn machine could be fitting.

Beats mounting a GPS on the dash.

new Ranger interior isn’t bad, not fond of the vertical screen though. Prefer using my iPad horizontally. Judging by the perforated section on the dash, it is getting speaker up there too. iirc think that is where my old ‘76 F250 had a speaker, the days long before they would put in them in the doors.

I think you used to get a 6x9 or similar on the dash. I can't recall being in car with a center speaker and the dash board not being cracked. I still like that old SD interior over the new SD interior.

I think these screens are getting a bit out of hand, especially in vehicles where they have used them in an effort to remove physical controls and move basic controls to the screen.

There has been numerous research on this, and how some systems can be more distracting and dangerous than using a cell phone while driving or driving drunk (I guess that depends on the level of drunkenness)

    https://www.thedrive.com/article/14905/infotainment-systems-are-causing-more-crashes-aaa-says

"A recent study by the AAA found that the more complex infotainment systems get, the more accidents will occur. To conduct the study, AAA took 30 new vehicles and asked 120 participants to perform tasks that required the use of the infotainment system in each car.

The researchers measured how long drivers were distracted while operating the systems and how much mental energy they expended to perform each task. For instance, using an unintuitive navigation system took up to 40 seconds for many participants, a ridiculously unsafe amount of time to take one's eyes off the road"

What could possibly go wrong putting a lithium ion battery in the dash of a truck in the hot summer?

I guess my 78 Land Cruiser can look forward to getting a speaker upgrade once I trade in my 3rd gen for a 4th gen down the road. At least the 4th gen has different rear brakes than my fj40. lol

The OEM qualification process is very rigorous, so you can be assured the speaker won't catch on fire during the 36-mo. warranty period
