So Sunday I leave Winterpark. Headed home just past Mary Jane all these spring potholes... ya ya ya all skiers know little highways can have big potholes in spring... oh no way... not like this... I missed 85% of them swerving through the mine field. But I hit one and honestly my kid in passenger seat caught air... I hit my head on the steering wheel when the tire finally found the bottom.. I pulled over expecting to see my rod laying in the pothole. Amazingly my truck is 100% .... I honestly don't know how... I took the wheel off today and it seems OK.

This guy... did not have my luck...

Moral of story, it's spring. Watchout for potholes... they are worse then ice maybe... enjoy the spring conditions! Headed back up to winter park Saturday to camp if anyone local wants to meet up. We will be in G lot.. Solar Octane... can't miss us.

Also check your tire pressure. This pass maxes at about 11k so his tires were probably rock hard which didn't help.

 

I ordered some replacement boot laces from 32 and they threw in a couple free DVDs lol. One of them is from 2015. Probably trying to clear out a storage unit

Walking into a skateshop as a kid back then was heavy. They had the wrap on all the videos, couldn't find them anywhere else.

Somewhere at my parents house there's stacks of Transworld Snowboarding mags, Transworld Skateboarding and of course Thrasher

Right now my YT feed is all snowboarding videos. New-ish stuff like Shredbots and Redbull/Travis Rice. Sunday in the Park is good, all freestyle park riding from Bear Mtn. Lots of older MackDawg videos from the 90s/00s like Decade, Chulksmack, Hard Hungry Homeless..

I found The Bomb-hole podcast and have been going through every episode. Absolute legends come through like JP Walker, Peter Line, Arthur Longo.. Those guys are really cool, you're going to learn some history, you're going to be inspired

 

New to this thread. What's everybody buying for next season?
So far I've purchased a new helmet (Smith Vantage), new goggles (Smith IO Mag), New Mitts (POW Stealth GTX). I still need to buy new pants (My OR ones are trash) and finally new boots.

 

I got a board (Never Summer Protosynthesis), new bindings (Jones Mercury), new gloves (Hestra Army Leather Ascent) , new set of lenses, and a new jacket (Marmot Light Ray GTX). What can i say.....im broke. With the extended season here in So. CALIFORNIA I'm getting use out of it.

 

I've been slowly filling out my BC pack, bought a new pair of bibs, warranteed some shitty VonZipper goggles for some better Smith I/O Mags.

Also bought a new park board since my old one got stuffed into a rail last month. Capita is calling this thing a Powder Twin, technically it's a little too wide for a jibbing but it should be fun.

 

I'm at Stevens every weekend

Yea I got it literally a couple days after stevens closed. I thought about carrying it up on snowshoes just to get a few laps but didnt want to mess with that when the splitboard is more versatile for hiking. New board will sit till next season

I still need to buy a split. My mom would kick my ass if she found out I got into backcountry stuff.

 

It's not that gnarly. Just make sure you take an avy class first

 

Oh forsure, and proper gear, Maybe even an airbag backpack

 

Floatation gear is great, just remember 90% of the avy class is learning how to NOT start a slide in the first place. The tools you carry in your pack are just there to mitigate a situation if the worst should happen. Bottom line, don't start a slide and don't put yourself underneath one

 

Got a bunch of gear this yr, but ended up having unplanned ACL surgery and didnt get to use any of it....Now I need to figure out what to sell, and what to keep....Who am I kidding, Ill likely sell it all and replace with new.
