Helping out my good buddy @Welds_Taco (on Instagram), whose making a reinforcement solution for folks whose trucks subframe fail at the diff mount. I've heard of many nightmare situations for folks, it could lead to a lot bigger problems when this fails. The thin support from the factory wasn't designed for people who hit the trails hard rolling on 35s. (see pic below).

He's taking preorders on this product, $55 including shipping, limited run. He's not a shop per se, he works out of his garage but has made many bedracks, bumpers, sliders and other projects for his friends, people he's met on Instagram and here on Tacomaworld. He's a top-notch fabricator and person.

Email him at: welds.taco.on.ig@gmail.com for more info or to reserve this.

Interesting. Never heard of this portion failing. On the older 4Runners the front arms used to snap, people reinforced them with plates between the two ribs. Any pictures of a failed mount there? I don’t see how that prevents a failure since the mount is on the top side of the frame, not the underside. That bottom hole is there just to access the bolt, just like the cab mount.

I used to have a Fabtech drop bracket lift on my truck, and I broke a weld and ripped this mount clean off the drop bracket once. It was the Fabtech mount, not factory, but exact same mounting point and issue.

After that I pulled all the drop bracket stuff off and had a shop fab me a beefy crossmember and diff mount

it doesn't hurt to do it
    it's cheap
why not reinforce everything ahead of time

I would assume it is a problem, if a fabricator and 2g Taco owner took the time to create a solution
you can always send him a message to ask the question of why he developed it, which I bet he'd give an answer

    if that means diff drop
everybody says not to run one
increased CV angle from lift can be addressed by installing higher-angle CV boot kits

Not a diff drop. A 6" drop bracket lift from Fabtech.

This mod looks kinda pointless. I don’t see that part failing and needing reinforced.

    Just gussets... everywhere
This actually makes sense. A few buddies of mine have had that part of the diff mount break and then the diff torques upward and puts a whole in the oil pan requiring a tow home.

I still don’t get it. What load is it reinforcing by welding a plate on the bottom? Are there any calculations done to show the reduction in torque applied to the area?

Welds Taco: "The engine twists on the trans, the trans twists on the transfer case, the transfer case spins the shaft, the shaft twists the spider gears, the spider gears twists the axles. When the spider gears want to spin the axles but the axles don’t want to spin that energy has to go somewhere. That’s when the torque starts to transfer to the points holding the axle housing in place."

Any further questions I'd hit him up for more info.

I ripped my diff mount recently, but this product doesn’t fix the actual problem. You need all the reinforcement in the area above. That’s where it cracks from force pushing it up.
Requires diff removal to have it done the right way

this is what I was trying to tell the OP from the beginning, welding that bottom plate does nothing but add cargo weight to your vehicle and doesn’t really add any strength where it’s needed.

Nada you're wrong, the plate gets welded to a tube, the tube gets welded to a washer. The diff nut then clamps down on the washer, thus the big plate is acting like a relocated washer if you can picture it. So now the botton of the crossmember is taking load instead of just the thin, top piece of the crossmember.
