Until seeing this brightened picture this whole time I thought the speaker was sitting on the side bed rail, not the tailgate

 

First glance, same. Thinking that weird lip is going to be a pain for toppers. Then…oooh that is some aero thing for the tailgate.

 

Another interesting thing - this truck is white, not puke green like the one pictured in the cab.

Why don't they extend the fender flares all the way down each side? It looks stupid and you're leaving painted surfaces exposed to paint chips.

 

I’ve thought the same thing. It’s dumb. The designers were focused on more important things like removable speakers.

 

They're too focused on putting fake vents and fake camo patterns on the fender flares

 

Ok, I’ve been biting my tongue but this thread frustrates me. I am typically one to be happier and share excitement but this thread has gotten to the point of ridiculous.

First of all, I don’t think many of you understand the magnitude of what it takes to develop and build a new truck. First, if they drop the V6. Well that’s because the Federal Government has forced manufacturers to meet stricter emissions requirements. Not exactly Toyotas fault. They have rules to follow. Second, a tailgate lip, a tailgate stamp… geez. Last a speaker in the dash that’s removable… who knew it would be such a trigger!? My 17 Tacoma has speakers in the dash, they aren’t removable but the one rattles since almost new, I’ll live with it and if it gets hot or bakes in the sun in the dash… it’s no different than any other dash speakers.

I ask that you all take a deep breath. It’s going to be revealed in two weeks. Try to just wait until Toyota unveils the whole thing and gives an explanation for everything with actual numbers and figures then form a constructive opinion.

But but but... That's not what the internet is for! The internet is for faceless and baseless communication! I think what you are seeing is more of a "we don't have other things to talk about so we will talk about this" than anything else. I doubt anyone actually has any real concerns unless they actually are needing a new vehicle at exactly the time this is available and I can understand wanting information sooner if I was in that spot.

 

No I’m saying I don’t give a shit about the tailgate lip, I’d buy a 4 cylinder hybrid Tacoma, and I don’t care one way or another about a removable speaker it’s no big deal to me

 

I think most people are talking shit because trying to pass off a removeable dash speaker as a "taco Tuesday reveal" was a pretty lame move on Toyota's part. Especially for us in this thread, who have had access to more substantial information via industry folks who contribute here.

 

Right, you're saying the same thing others are saying. No one cares about a removable speaker. Why get upset when others also say they don't care about it?

 

No I mean I’m not triggered. Why did we talk for three pages about how “it’s stupid” “im gonna lose it” “no one asked for it”. Thousands of people have worked on the development of this vehicle, yes we’ve had “insider” information but marketing has a job to do. There’s a reason they are teasing it… but the debut is in two weeks. So y’all just need to take a chill pill is what im saying

 

Maybe I missed something. How do we know the reveal is in two weeks?
