Maybe if it was a third liner, but seriously, Makar putting our top scorer on IL isn’t a bad strategy, after all, it’s playoff hockey, right? Bullshit. At the time we had you doubled up on shots, that was a frustration play targeting an elite player.

Saying it’s playoff hockey doesn’t make it permissible to hit a guy without the puck, regardless it’s an interference penalty, so what’s Makar’s strategy? Put it at 4 on 4 then you go down a man after our penalty expires?

Call it what you want, reality is irrefutable, Makar hit McCann well away from the puck and McCann was defenseless because he saw where the puck went out of play and gave up on the play.

I also seriously doubt that Makar, who’s an elite defenseman, didn’t see that puck deflect high. The only proof is in Makar’s mind, and he gets time to think about that tonight.

Reality is he made a mistake, the mistake was egregious enough he deserved to sit at least a game. Sure as shit McCann didn’t deserve to sit this game, but he is, and Makar is the reason, and the play was illegal.

Makes sense. What doesn’t make sense and is quite silly is saying a minor was the correct call in the game. Makar got a suspension, that alone indicates the call on the court should have been a major.

I got no skin in that game but sometimes you just gotta call bs when ya see it lol.

It’s part of the player safety protocols. Pretty much any big hit to the head results in a suspension. By rule it’s a minor but the league is trying to minimize these types of things to include escalating events, suspending Makar also eliminates any player retaliatory targeting. Just look at the old Aves/Det rivalry that lasted years. These kinds of suspensions happen.

Total bullshit. I’ll make this one big paragraph so you can follow along. The hit to the head wasn’t the issue, it was hitting a defenseless player WITHOUT THE PUCK AND NOWHERE NEAR IT, whistle or not. Makar is a professional athlete, not some douche in a rec league goonin it up. He’s well aware of the rules. The refs have some fault because they hadn’t blown the whistle after the puck went out, but McCann was skating away, and not aggressively toward a puck, which wouldn’t have mattered anyway because McCann didn’t have the puck and was nowhere near the puck. That’s an interference penalty. Every fucking time. Makar then cherry-picked the hit, whether to the head or not, but the severity of the hit, resulting in an injury to a defenseless player, will definitely get the attention of the department of player safety. If you don’t have the spine to admit reality (that is a prevalent issue these days), that’s on you. As far as I can tell, you’re the only one who wants to die on that hill. Can’t change opinion, but fact in irrefutable, even when someone refuses to accept the truth.

TLDR. 2 min minor for interference. Still the correct call and nothing you can do about it, keep crying. Buy some skates and L2P

Actually I was not accurate concerning the rules they have been changed since the article I linked. Here is the current 2022 rule 48:
    7B4A8265-4FEB-4BD3-B5DA-5CACCFFDF798.jpg
    4CFBB8E4-BFB3-444A-BC4E-A61C7826BE70.jpg
So the referees could have call a Match penalty and immediately removed the player from the game. They did not however player safety applied supplemental 1 day suspension which to me indicated an in-game Match Penalty suspension would have been appropriate.

IF it was ruled a check to the head.

Unfortunate for the Kraken but that’s hockey, it happens. Makar being out is moot for us as we aren’t going anywhere. I don’t see either team beating MIN or DAL.

I agree with you, it’s a fast game. Shit happens. Makar made a stupid and avoidable mistake, that’s my point. Even if not deliberate, accidental contact sometimes gets penalized. Accident though?

I also agree, think Dallas has the series with MN, I don’t think Seattle goes on if we get past CO
