New Wheels TPMS

    Getting ready to lift my truck, and looking into tires and wheels. Im gonna sell my stock wheels and tires, but trying to figure out what to do about the TPMS. Should I swap my current ones into the new wheels, or just buy new sensors so I can sell the stock wheels with sensors included? Will a shop let me supply my own sensors, or will I have to purchase ones from them?

    However you want to do it. If you keep your sensors everything will just work. If you get new sensors the id's will need to be programmed into the tpms system or some sensors can be cloned to have the same id's as the original sensors.

    I installed sensors in new wheels myself and then took them and the tires to be mounted and balanced. Afterwards, I purchased new Denso sensors (OEM) and swapped them out myself.

    I also program all my own stuff with techstream.

    There are many ways to do this. No way is right or wrong, just whatever works best for you. Tires shops are notorious for screwing this up though with damaging sensors, supplying wrong sensors, or being unable to get them programmed and working.

    Yea, i was kinda thinking of getting new sensors putting them in the new wheels, and then taking the new wheels and tires into the shop to get them mounted and balanced. Id imagine if i got oem sensors they can't really say anything. But i did call one shop and he tried to say that he didn't know and that theu might have to use sensors they would supply because of "liability "... im guessing if i took the sensors from my stock wheels i could have the shop put regular valve stems in their place and avoid having to buy an extra set of TPMS sensors?
