Just sitting at work. Did you put a new engine in your truck? If so, did you keep the old one for a "rebuild"?

More importantly.....tell me bout that bike :D

I may like it more than the W800 Cafe

We actually haven’t yet. lol. My first event was on Larry’s team for Sweep Up the Southeast last year. Then I’ve only been to one of the recovery workshops, and Backyard Brews this past weekend. I thought about trying to hit the beach part of P2S, but couldn’t afford the ferry and all that yet.

Man I feeeeeel that haha transitioning to this new job has been quite the adjustment... still trying to get into the routine

I did indeed, 19k mile motor out of a 2015. I could have rebuilt mine as it was but didn't feel like putting more money into a near 200k mile engine than I already had in it so went with a low mileage replacement... old engine is still around in pieces, not sure what I'm going to do with it yet...

Its a 21 KTM 500 EXC-F. Freaking bomb of a machine, got it last November. I got it to do mainly more technical stuff with it, single track stuff and what not, but also wanted it to be street legal. Took it to Windrock a few weekends ago and actually ran into @Brian422 and some of the other AL crew on here. Bike performed awesome up there.

The KTM has undergone quite the transition since I've gotten it, still have a few more things sitting around that Ive got to get on her when i get the time

Really hoping to get a Tenere by Fall this year, I want one so bad but have some other financial obligations to take care of first haha

Thats hilarious, I was actually supposed to lead that team down TNF but then I had some work obligations come up so I wasn't able to make it at all... Glad you got to meet Larry, he's an awesome human

Totally understand, it gets up there by the time you calculate gas, beach driving passes, ferry cost etc...

We're not too far, we'll have to coordinate a local ride soon and get together. maybe another trip down to TNF or maybe up to prentice cooper or coppinger if your up for it

The 800 mile service interval always kept me away from the CRF450L

I read(on some guy's blog) the Husq 701 had good intervals, but never looked it up on their site

    This is the new Transalp.

Yeah, the KTM isnt any better service interval wise lol BUT the engines in these particular bikes are known to be extremely robust for a KTM.

Whats your goal with the 701 if you were to get one?

Interesting.... wonder how its specs will compare to some of its equivalents

No plans to get one....was just "window shopping" I'm honestly happy with my little 300 Rally, but would love to have a retro styled cafe racer.

    20230304_062918.jpg

The specs on the Transalp are going to be around 90HP/55TQ with typical Honda long maintenance intervals.

RADAR CHECK: Rain is widespread over the northern third of Alabama early this morning. We also note strong to severe thunderstorms over parts of South Mississippi and Louisiana… those will be moving over the southern quarter of the state through the morning hours.

SPC maintains a “slight risk” (level 2/5) of severe thunderstorms today south of a line from Grove Hill to Fort Deposit to Phenix City. A “marginal risk” (level 1/5) covers the rest of the state.

The core threat of strong to severe thunderstorms will come this morning into the early afternoon hours across the southern quarter of Alabama. The main threats will come from hail and strong winds, although an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out.

Additional scattered showers and storms will form late this afternoon and tonight over the northern half of the state, and those could be strong with gusty winds and small hail. But, the overall severe risk will be low as the organized shear in the atmosphere will be east of here by then. Highs today will range from the upper 60s across the Tennessee Valley to the low 80s near the coast.

Any lingering showers will end early tomorrow, and the sky becomes partly sunny by afternoon as drier air returns. The high tomorrow will be in the 70s.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Another batch of showers and thunderstorms will move through South Alabama during the day Saturday; SPC has defined a “marginal risk” (level 1/5) for areas south of a line from Linden to Prattville to Phenix City.

While the northern half of the state is expected to be dry, showers and storms are possible across South Alabama during the day Saturday, and stronger storms could produce hail and strong winds. Showers are possible statewide Saturday into Sunday morning, but a decent part of Sunday afternoon should be dry. The high Saturday will be close to 80 degrees, followed by low to mid 70s Sunday.

NEXT WEEK: For now most of the week looks dry and mild with highs generally in the 70s. See the video briefing for maps, graphics, and more details.

ON THIS DATE IN 2011: A generational severe weather outbreak in Alabama produced 62 tornadoes, killing 252 people. There were two distinct waves of widespread severe weather… the first wave of severe storms moved through during the early morning hours in the form of a Quasi-Linear Convective System (QLCS). This intense line of thunderstorms produced not only widespread damaging straight line winds in the areas of Moody, Pell City and Riverside, but numerous strong tornadoes.

The second wave, which began with the Cullman EF-4 and Hackleburg/Phil Campbell EF-5 tornadoes, involved numerous supercell thunderstorms which produced deadly long-lived, strong to violent tornadoes. Widespread and catastrophic damage was sustained in several locations. The deadliest tornado of the event was the one that moved through Tuscaloosa and the northern and western suburbs of Birmingham… it killed 65 people and injured over 1,500.
