AC/Heater fan stopped working

Sounds kinda like the blower is on it's way out or there's a bad connection.

 

I’ll be checking that when I get a chance on Friday just in case if it’s a bad connection and I’ll clean the blower as well. So far the Blower is working fine

 

Okay so it’s morning now and AC doesn’t work…so i don’t think it’s the resistor because I turned it on High and still no air coming out the vents. It might be the blower is on its way…

 

Smack on the blower with the switch on and see if it starts up, if it does it's the blower motor.

 

Check your connectors as suggested above. Loose connections makes intermittent operation.

 

Yeah, I will be checking that tomorrow morning, but today so far it only starts when I hit it under the glovebox and it makes the blower motor start once I hit it a few times.

 

Because when you hit it that vibrates the connector.

 

Yea at this point it looks like the blower motor connector and/or blower motor.

 

Ill be checking that tomorrow and see if there is some burnt color on the connector as some other Tacoma owners have had with the connector and seems pretty common. Thanks for helping y’all I’ll keep updating this thread and see what works

 

I checked all connections and nothing looks burnt and it looks like the past owner replaced the original connection that clips into the resistor. I didn’t check the resistor because even at high it wouldn’t blow any air, so it shouldn’t be the resistor. I also checked the blower motor and it looks good as well didn’t even had any leaves. AC Cabin filter looks clean as well. But after disconnecting and reconnecting the connections the AC been working good. So maybe there was a loose connection. But so far it’s blowing cold air after disconnecting and reconnecting connections.

I've had this intermittent problem too. Used to be solved by pushing in the wire connector. (Which I had replaced last year due to black on the plastic around the connections. )

Yesterday, it smelled like dying electrical component... And now it doesn't work at all.

New blower motor again? I plan to take it all apart, I've got the book.

Took it apart, wires look the same thing as last year, which is frustrating. It looks like the shop didn't install what I provided, which is double crappy. I'll do it myself this time.

 

damn I'm in the same boat. '05. I've replaced the resistor twice now over the years when it would only run on high. I'm sitting in 6* weather and the fan doesn't turn on at all. Hard tap on the motor got it running but once I get some sun I'm going to fool with the connections and see if anything is out of sorts.

 

I hope you get some sun and it warms up at least a bit. But 6º in Texas, for real? ! I know Texas has extremes and can even be colder than New England, which is the case now. Not that you would do this in single digit temperatures, but to get just a bit of heat - and this sounds crazy, while driving crack open a window just a bit, and don't have the system set to recirculate air. There will be just a bit of heat coming in. I believe it's the same principal old VWs had, and it's said the owner's manual actually suggests that.

Best of luck and please update with what you ended up finding. At least stores are open today if you need to buy something.

 

Three hard smacks to the glove box ...n one curse word ..should fix it

 

in CO for the next 1.5 years so up here at 9k feet in the Crested Butte area. Incredible place. A touch colder than Texas. I can get it running with a few smacks in and around the fan motor but haven't yet been able to find the culprit.

 

Oh ok, I could see that temperature in that location. Wow that elevation is up there! Being that you hit the motor, and (I think) aren't moving around a connector, the trouble may be in the motor itself. There's many on here that could probably tell you what pins you should read 12v with the blower on.

 

I had this issue. Check the 2-pin connector at the fan motor. Mine was toast. Disconnect it and look at it. Does it look burned?

If so, I can look up whatever part numbers I used.
