are you putting the suntori with club soda? its way better that way. it can be "aggressive"

and as for the bottle that is super cool. ive a bottle of Saki at home that my dad was gifted like 20 years ago was on display at home and we had an exchange student instructor who stayed with us, saw that bottle on my shelf and said never drink that you will die. it was the darkest brown. he told me it is basically clear when bottled. a part of me wanted to have some just to prove him wrong.

Yes smoother, but it gives me a heavier headache in the morning if I over do it!

Lol. We had some of the people from Uncle Nearest do a tasting up in the private club at the top of my office building a few months back. I went with a friend who didn't have a lot of experience with bourbon, and they asked us to pick up the first glass and breathe in the aroma, and tell them what notes we were sensing. They made of point of saying that there were no wrong answers. My friend takes a sniff and says, "it just smells like Fireball to me".

Apparently, there were wrong answers, as it turned out.

Dehydration is giving you the headache. I learned decades ago that after a night of drinking, to drink a large glass or two of water before keeling over. I have had very few alcohol-related headaches since I started doing that. Getting back up to piss after a few hours sucks, but it's better than the hangover I'd have otherwise!

Finally had some Pappy. Where I ate dinner on this trip had the 12 year on hand. Looked at the price, realized I’m never gonna get a bottle at MSRP so what the hell I’ll spoil myself.

I’m comfortable saying it’s probably the best bourbon I’ve sampled, and I’ve sampled a lot. I’m also 100% confident that I would never buy a bottle at the current price point as good as it was it’s simply not worth it. Not sure what I was expecting but for the price I guess I expected more.

Did you order a Pappy's and Coke, just to get a reaction from the bartender?

I felt the same after my first try. It was good, definitely, but as you said I was was expecting more. I actually preferred the Larceny BP, but I don't remember the batch.

Of course, but crushed ice and a maraschino cherry also.

    keeping is classy:thumbsup:
once asked for a boilermaker with woodford reserve and Hamms. knowing it would piss off my bartender friend, and he would come to come find who would order that. it worked like 3 min later he was yelling about wasting good liquor with cheap beer. saw me standing at the edge of the bar, poured the woodford and then gave me the middle finger

Piss him off even more by requesting a non-alcoholic beer.

Sometimes you just gotta treat yo self! Best I’ve sampled as well. The Lot B is just so damn good. The 15 year was a very, very close 2nd.

I've had the Pappy, and Rip. My friend shelled out the big dollars, and man oh man was it good, and I mean gooooood! But....there is a moral to this story. He finished the bottle, and because he was broke, switched over to that crappy fake moonshine they sell at the liquor stores...ya know the one with the cherries in it. Let's just say it led to him getting this ugly, and I mean ugly woman pregnant, now he's stuck. Kids cute though.

Moral of the story...buy Pappy, not shine. It's worth the cost of the bottle, you'll end up with someone better looking anyways.

Came out here looking for a unicorn but couldn’t bring myself to shell out the prices. So I settled for some really good bourbons that I can’t find at home.

Found Sweet Wheat and Bookers for <$100 at some sketchy looking gas stations and stopped at a bourbon store where the owner not only gave me a heavy pour of his store pick Elijah Craig but suggested I stop looking at the “Buffalo Trace shit” and try the EC BP C922 and the Blue Run so I took his advice. Successful bourbon hunt.

    Not bad advice.

There is so much good whiskey out there that does not come from BT.
