My father has a 4-cylinder 2009 Tacoma. I’m not sure if this is covered under the leaf spring recall but are the leaf springs separating on one side?

    Thank you in advance.

    This doesn’t look “right”.
I can tell you that is a 2 + 1 leaf pack. Which was the set under recall on some trucks.

Looks like your ride qualifies for the recall.
But call them to be sure or run it through a vin checker

Getting mine swapped out next week.
Mine is a “OK” no need to replace status but I talked them into swapping it anyway.

See below for what the technicians check and will do.

Saw title, I got the recall leafs a while back. But I'm a 4x4 and the replacement leafs are shot. Like Whatstcp said check recall, personally since I have 165,000 miles I'm doing a complete suspension overhaul and lifting.
    Good luck

The separation is normal. It’s, that, one side is squared and the other side is rounded, but they look to be the same length. And that spot is not where most leafs broke; they broke fore of the axle, close to the u-bolts. Could be a replaced leaf, your dad the original owner?

That one with the gap isn't separating, the other side is sagging...

Hi and thank you for your reply!

My father is the original owner and the leaf springs have never been replaced.

So is this normal and should he change them?

    Thank you in advance!

Thank you to everyone that replied. Should my father replace the leaf springs?

Like if they are separating and sagging, it just means his truck is old and well used but the leaf springs are intact, is that correct?

Check to see if the recall applies to the truck and go from there.

Forgot to mention I checked the VIN with both the dealer and Toyota Canada and they say my Dad’s truck was not covered by the recall.

So are the springs cracked and if they are how do I tell?

    Thank you in advance.
