+1 on the bed mat and bed lights. I have a tonneau cover so the bed lights are a must!

 

Then get Skokie-tech. I love mine and easy install.

 

I would add it because it's there when you NEED it! I don't use mine a lot, but when I need it, it's there.

 

Posted in "What did you do today..." but since we were discussing it here, I installed the Striker hood support struts today. SO much better than muscling the hood up onto the prop rod. Release the hood and it pops up a few inches, disengage the catch and it raises quickly up to about 3/4 of the way and then slowly to the top. Set it at about 6" above the OEM prop rod height. I have a real aversion to drilling holes and that sort of thing, but the eight holes were worth it.

 

I couldn't agree more... except I bought Spyker hood struts.

 

Well, it will have to be Spiker, and keep the rivet tool for other riveting developments in life (I know, ). Not sure if it will be soon or in a few months, though.

 

I did not notice that much of a difference. I listen to classical, pop, blues, folk, etc. Could have saved myself the time and money.

 

+1 on dashcam. First collision/accusation of tail-gating when you get brake-checked, and it will pay for itself.

 

Replaced OEM tweeters with Kicker plug-and-play speakers and like @ixnay, didn't notice much difference. After reading more reviews and recommendations I returned them and installed

DS18 tweeters (also plug-and-play). Marked difference! Much cleaner and clearer highs and they actually sound a bit louder. Had to dial back the higher frequencies a bit. Added Infinity Reference speakers from Crutchfield in the front doors and the stock system sounds MUCH better. First stock stereo that I haven't replaced in a vehicle I've owned in decades. Will probably add a powered sub to get a little more "oomph" a little ways down the road.

I second this, I have had both the Kickers and now have DS18s, and the DS18s are better in my opinion. Noticeably louder and more crisp sound (and cheaper!).

 

They were a pretty decent upgrade for the $ after retuning the audio settings (basically made the tweeters audible and had a lot more clarity). I have a lightly used set available for cheaps: drizzoh's 3g parts for sale thread | Tacoma World

 

Looks like I’m gonna cancel the order on the kickers and order these

 

1. Striker hood struts
2. AC drain mod
3. Rear differential breather mod
4. Front wheel well rubber engine splash guards

 

Finally got my new taco! Installed the Softtopper and was drilling holes in it within a few hours. Picked up the dog on the way home and and immediately got hair and mud on the interior. It's a truck and is going to be utilized as such.

Already have driven it across the country from Colorado to Washington. I'm not certain I need a tune yet. The last Tacoma was a 2.7L 4cyl manual transmission so to goto a v6 automatic I've increased my horse power by almost 2x (149 vs 279). The increase is highly noticeable, but I've only had it a few days and am still driving it like my old Tacoma. But I can give it the beans now and it goes!
