Pretty sure the science is clear 91 octane minimum, ethanol free is best. I saw this on the Internet.

Where are you finding Toyota branded oil for that price? Dealers near me want double that.

Nah, it's this fucking forum. The incessant oil/shifting/volume button and rear speaker questions could push the Jesus over the edge.

Freeman Toyota in Santa Rosa, CA. Case of oil and 4-banger oil filter for $35.60 total, after tax. Straight from the receipt.

Edit: That does seem like a really good deal. This was about a month ago. The dude probably gave me a bro deal and I was too clueless to notice. I feel like a jerk.

Uhh, so how about that genuine Toyota motor oil? I didn’t read the whole thread. Anyone comment on how they use Super Tech and it’s fine?

Any oil that meets the published specifications is fine.

Some products may be a bit "finer", but ultimately an engine that is well maintained & operated correctly using the specified products should give good service over an acceptable lifespan.

Amsoil Signature, at least for the 60K change I just did and likely 70K too. Its expensive but the cost is insignificant against my annual fuel cost.

    0w20 for winter
0w?? For hot summer driving with towing??

O’Reilly’s offers 5qts Mobil 1 for $37.95 but is offering a $10 gift certificate with it too- is this a good deal and a good choice?

Times change, technology changes -- people have a hard time changing...

Modern mass market synthetic oil is much tougher than the very best oil we had in 1980.
Put the 0W-20 in year round and let 'er rip tater chip!

The Mobil 1 is fine, remember you need 6.2 quarts for the Tacoma though.

I tried to buy 2 tenth of a quart from a parts place and the lady looked at me like I was crazy. :) lol
I changed the oil in my 2019 TRD sport with 7,430 miles on it today. I don't think my engine is going to miss the 2 tenth of a quart so 6 it is.

The dealer was supposed to have changed it 2 and 1/2 years ago as part of the 2 year free oil change. I don't think the metal cover with four bolts in it has ever been off and the filter looks as its never had a tool on it.

It was sort of nasty but now looks nice and clean. I went with Mobil 0w20 because I bought it at a deal last year .
If the dealer did change it I think they went with used oil. :) or maybe some gear oil lol They were supposed to have changed it at 3900 miles . I don't drive it much .

It took me all of 15 minutes to change it and I didn't even jack it up. I am also old lol , like a Vietnam veteran old :)
I just love these oil change topics lol
