Seems like allot of you guys have the tunes, and still go into the dealer with no worries, it what I am hearing from you and other Taco owners. That's good enough for me... thanks.

There’s an update avail. Visit your tuner or reach out to us (info@overlandtailor.com) if you’re a self installer for your free update.

Pretty easy. You'll likely be provided with a set of thorough, step-by-step instructions. All you really need is basic computer knowledge (how to browse to the files you downloaded, how to extract files from a zip or other compression software, etc). Just basic stuff like that.

Thanks, I figured as much. The local installer's schedule is too restrictive for mine to merge with.

I installed the BD tune on my 2015 S/C, but that was years ago.

I got it done at the cheesesteak meet by Kevin. @SH7mi, he does kdmax. Allan stop responding. Kevin tried to get a tune from him awhile ago too but also had a hard time getting in contact with him. So he just decided to buy everything himself and tune for people in our area

Thanks for the update. How do you like the kdmax?. Would you convert later to the OTT?

Hi everybody! 2023 TRD Pro and, I love my truck but I want to nuke this dumbass transmission program. https://giphy.com/embed/afHRLmuskLvfq
via GIPHY

I have a couple of questions.

1. I am near Atlanta GA. Any local tuners or is Bham closest?
2. What kind of mods are recommended to do before a tune? I don't plan on supercharging or anything that severe. I do plan on replacing the intake with the TRD Intake. What other less severe mods can be tuned for and what would help create a better quality tune over stock?
3. In what ways is it customizable? I've seen throttle response but I've also heard it can tune for 91 Octane, is it possible to tune for E85? What options exist?

I'm definitely getting it tuned. I can't stand the horrid transmission profile. Whoever came up with this, probably headed to the seppuku forest.

No specific mods are needed for the tune. A stock truck is a perfectly fine truck (once tuned of course! ;) ) but your intake choice will be perfectly fine to add later if you were planning on adding it to the truck.

As far as what can be done, the sky is the limit honestly. A 91 specific tune is no problem, race gas, e85, you name it, alternative fuels and custom work is billed by the hour over our standard production files.

Our production files give you two transmission tune options, a whole suite of throttle settings from stock to very aggressive and everything in between, we have specific transmission tunes available for different gearsets and tire size combinations. We can set you up for an AGM battery as well.

If you have something specific you need/want let’s chat more about it.

So, I've posted in here before, and I thought I had it figured out. But I guess I don't...

I've gone back and forth between Medium/Spicy, Mild/Medium, Lite/Mild, and Mild/Medium a few times, and it's starting to make this tune expensive. (Local guy charges $20 to meet up and redo throttle response.)

While in motion, I love the Mild/Medium setting. Gives me the responsiveness I need for driving in a big city (Dallas). But even after months on this throttle setting, I cannot get used to the start from stop or low speed acceleration to not be jerky. I am as light on the pedal as I can possible be, and the throttle feels like it goes from 0% to 25%, with nothing in between. So low speed driving in residential neighborhoods or places with speed bumps, along with starts from a stop a stop lights are extremely jerky. And I promise you, I am as light on the throttle as possible.

With the Lite setting, I am able to smoothly accelerate, but the rest of in town and highway driving feels excessively sluggish, and I'm REALLY having to put my foot into it to accelerate or maintain speed.

So that's 1 problem. My second problem seems to be that when I use the cruise control on the highway, my truck still constantly wants to gear hunt, like just as bad as if I never got a tune. I like the throttle response increase while at speed, but after driving with this tune for 7+months, I feel like that's the only benefit, an even at that, I am struggling with the low speed & start from stop acceleration...

Any input? Cause right now, I'm at a loss...

I am running:
Eibach Pro Truck 2.0 Suspension
OME Dakar HD Springs
BFG KO2's in 265/75r16
Prinsu Roof Rack

*My local tuner, Alex, is a super nice guy, so this is in no way a reflection on him. Just wanted to be clear.*

If you like the Lite off-idle throttle and Mild as you get into the pedal further, it’s no trouble to make a hybrid of these two settings. I’ll personally cover your $20 fee your tuner charges for the update.

Re: Cruise - if you’re using adaptive cruise, there is no access in the software we use to adjust/tweak these maps. It’s well documented. The standard cruise, uses the same shift schedule as your non-ECT mode.

I would absolutely love some type of Hybrid. Just enough of "Lite" to get rolling, and then into Mild would be wonderful.

And for cruise, I must have missed that, about the adaptive cruise. I'll turn that off and try it again. ‍♂️

You can PM me, if its easier, so we dont clutter up this thread.
