Has anyone ever installed the bed outlet into a Taco that didn't originally come with it? Recently bought all of the parts to set it up but don't know where to begin. Any pointers or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

Mine came pre equipped so I’m not much help.

Search “inverter install or bed outlet install” and you’ll net some results.

What kind of help do you need? I have a base model 2012 that I installed a bed outlet, inverter and the harness. I still need to add the wiring/relay under the hood. Like everything else on this truck. I can't seem to finish a mod before starting a new one.

Was there a diagram that you followed to know which wire went where? I'm fairly new to wiring (I know, kind of a big project to start with lol) and the parts I received look like the person I bough it off of just cut the large collection of wires behind the dash I order to take it out. How did you go apart tackling this project?

Before you get too far, throw out all that crap and only use the bed cubby outlet assembly. For the effort required to retrofit it’s not worth ending up with the shitty 400W OEM inverter and the wiring that’s sized for it.
Get an aftermarket inverter and wire it however you want.

You’ll have to wait until I get home to respond. It’s a long story.

    I’m with him.
If you’re going to through all that trouble you might be better off with a better inverter.
The problem you might run into is that the factory 110v wiring probably isn’t big enough to handle much more than 400/450w.

Should you still want to install the factory system, I can probably supply the diagrams if needed.
But it would help if you knew a little about diagrams. Plus, you might bypass some of the connections unless you want add pins to existing connectors. After all, your wires are cut already. So splicing is a must anyways.

Do you have a picture of the parts that you bought?

I have a base model regular cab and bought all the parts used (after a bunch of research) from eBay and sellers on this forum. I had to wire everything. I still need to tap into the fuse box under the hood for powering the main relay.
Installing the inverter and harness is the easy part. Wiring from the truck to the connector at the inverter is a little harder. I had my dash harness out of the truck so I did it then (you don't have to pull the dash harness). I did for various reasons, it was the perfect time to wire it up for the inverter.
