for the trails I do (or used to do ) I would want rock sliders before bumpers. Rock sliders and a steel IFS and transfer case skid. One of the first difficult trails I did in my 04 shortly after I got it, I was bone stock not even lifted yet, but the PO had put a Skidrow t-case skid on it. I dropped hard on that thing climbing a real steep rock shelf coming down the other side, would have been stranded out there with no 4wd or worse if it had just been that dinky stock t-case skid these came with.

It actually bent that skid row skid up into the t-case and made all kinds of fun noises on the highway home.

I didn't have sliders then either and I don't know how I managed to avoid damage on that trail without them, have done it several times since and always use the sliders on it. But just goes to show I suppose that you tend to be more cautious on certain things when you know you don't have the protection for it

Oof yeah. Trails around here don’t have that quite so much. I’m not sure my dainty tcase skid is even scratched:laughing:

Agreed on the second part for sure - people seem to send it harder if they think they’re protected. A lot more care is taken when you know you’re vulnerable.

Then there’s driving a rental car down the rail right of way over ballast and steel spikes protected - “Eh….it’s insured, hope I make my flight! *steps on the gas*”

I don't know if that's as big a thing as people make it out to be, against smaller cars/sedans sure, but any other lifted vehicle or big truck/SUV the door is probably gonna clear the sliders anyway. Unless you're lifted sky high

Every time someone say's "ain't" all I can hear is my 2nd grade teacher in Texas yelling at us in her heavy accent...

    "remember kids, 'AIN'T' AIN'T A WORD"

I’ve hiked that! It’s about 400 ft from pavement, down a sidewalk.

There’s a neat pumped energy storage facility on that mountain, which overtopped its reservoir and washed a big scour out of the side of the mountain. That’s a better hike.

    At least we’re not Kansas:

I show up everywhere looking like I'm nearly homeless, at the tractor store that basically dress code.
