Okay initial thoughts after install. I put roughly 420 miles mix of highway and street driving on the spacer now and there’s definitely a difference in how the truck feels.

General info on my truck. I have 3* cam gears and OTT tune (HPtuners), my truck has light 285/70/17 tires about 45 lbs per tire and Ray10s roughly 24 lbs per wheel. Stock gears. I have sliders and a standard steel rear bumper and JDFab LT and LCA pivot (both are pure beef so they add some weight).

This spacer makes my truck feel lighter if that makes sense. It just moves from a stop easier and on the highway going over hills it doesn’t even drop a gear and raise the rpm’s on hills it normally would. Getting onto the highway it has more power. It just seems like it has more to give than it usually does. For example when I reach the speed I want to reach it does it with ease and it feels like it can keep going if I need it to. So far I’m extremely happy with it and if I would recommend getting this spacer I would also get the 3* cam gear and a tune. If you drive your truck a lot these three mods will make it so much more enjoyable to drive. Thanks again @highaltitude for providing these spacers for the TW community.

 

did you feel a big difference with the tune? or was it ehh???

i already have the cam gears. waiting for my intake manifold spacer. thinking about the tune.

Did y'all do the cam gear project yourselves? How difficult was it. Did you grt the timing right on the first go? I am very DIY but I have never messed around with something like that. My truck will be parked soon as I'm getting a company vehicle so it'll free me up to do projects that may take more time.

 

I had another member on the forum help me out. He did it a few times before helping me. It's a bigger project than the spacer forsure, but if the vehicles down and you have another car, I'd probably do it myself

 

I mean….all depends on how comfortable you are. I did one thing at a time. I painted the gear and the chain with nail polish, so if anything….I know how to reinstall it

the worst part for me, was loosening the bolt that holds the cam gear. Because you have to also hold the camshaft so it doesn’t spin. I was afraid of cracking it.

 

Things always happen but the wait is worth it. Glad to hear you have in-stock

 

With mod you done it plus manifold spacer and tune it will put smile on your face

It's not really huge big difference like you put supercharger into your engine but it's big enough the difference compare stock one, your engine run smooth not running too much at high rpm even at highway.
I don't know on automatic transmission but what I heard the shifting more smoothly and perfect timing, mine is 6speed so more on the engine itself.

 

Between the spacer and the cam gear, which one did you notice the biggest impact after installation?

 

Neither. The tune was the biggest difference. Get the tune. It's awesome

 

Let's me put this way.... each modification helps each other u get cam gear that's 10% not much different, u add manifold spacer that's plus 15% definitely u feel something and u add tuning another 25 to 30% that's will be put smile on your face....
Tuning is the key but without 2 things modification help the tune... u will not unlock the beast under the hood.

 

x2. The cam gear isn’t as noticeable as the spacer but you can feel a slight change. If you just got a tune and none of the other mods you will feel a difference but it won’t feel as great as having all three mods. Our engines aren’t nearly as bad as the 3rd gen engine hence why the 3rd gen people benefit way more from a tune than us. A tune does make our engines a tad better but not by much mostly just throttle preference. Way better than just getting a pedal commander which doesn’t solve anything really. But if you get tuned with the HPtuners software/hardware with the cam gear and spacer it’s basically a custom tune to your engine and it’s modifications.

 

How are you liking the tune in combination with the cam gear and spacer?

 

I also had another member on here instal the cam gear as that project is a little bit more involved and I’d prefer more experienced hands to take it on.

Yes!!!! Same here. But headers and y pipe is like $1500-$2000 for the long tube headers. Lol I want it, but can’t justify it. The truck drives fine now. Lol
