Anyone want to guess what next weeks teaser photos will be? My guess is an under hood shot of a plastic engine cover with some lettering on it and a seat headrest with some embroidery.

I went from 12" to an 8" seems less distracting imo. No screen is my preference.

Have you seen anything other than the rear bumper?

Love having a backup camera (and screen) for hooking up my trailer. Have been yanking trailers since I can remember, pretty good of going by feel…camera takes all the guess work out of it. Don’t have to jump in and out of the truck 2-3 times to check.

Maybe the gas shocks for the hood?

But more likely they'll stick with the useless new features and show the stitching/embroidery in the seat covers. Specifically the backseat behind the passenger showing a hint of the rear window rolled half way down.

Back up camera is nice. People have been driving and hooking up trailers before there were video cameras, and they got it done.

I wonder if the Tacoma will have that odd switch for the 4x4 selector like Tundra? Parts sharing I'm thinking it will.

    Work smarter not harder. ;)

The backup controller in the Fords looks interesting, haven’t seen one in person yet.

The controller looks interesting I had it but never needed it didn't tow a trailer with the truck. The larger brakes were nice.

I drove a Tundra, It really didn't bother. It's also easier if it has to be replaced instead of it being in the dash

You know you can always get a more basic trim of the Tacoma or the non high tech headunit package and get a head unit built into the dash, like the Tundra offers right? The tablet head unit is not mandatory for all trims.

I don't understand people criticizing stuff based on one photo before the full specifications come out.

Guess their teasing and edging techniques do work after all, whether is good or bad press lol

When you see something you don't like you say something. I'm the consumer, the current Tacoma still isn't availble with a vinyl floor in the utility package trim. Domestic manufacturers give these options, and will let customers build to order, as long as those specifications are a available.

That's fair, I mean nowadays everyone loves the sound of their own voice and they are within their right to do so.

I am saying this with the best of intentions because I often see it everywhere, not just in Tacomaworld.

Everyone has their deal breakers but criticizing or highly praising anything is best reserved until we have close to the full details, specially if you are already making the decision the decision to not test drive it based on incomplete or incorrect information, essentially making your opinion meaningless lol.

While I get what you are saying...

The 3rd gen top trim level has a screen fully integrated into the dashboard.

    The teaser photo does not.

As the original post said, that's an irrational pet peeve of mine. I do no like.

It was impossible finding a car that didn't have the drive in screen poking out of the dash. The closest I found was the Mazda 3, with a tiny amount of screen poke. And if the rest of the car didn't absolutely charm the hell out of me, I wouldn't have bought it. Still, I don't like it. Can't tell you why, but I don't.

This is why big screens and speakers are being put in Toyota's lately. I thought I'd simplify it for y'all. You don't have to like it, just the way it is.

    Toyota's new target market.

I'd prefer no screen, or at the very least make the thing removable for replacement, and the ability to not need it to operate the other systems in the truck. Toyota is half way between having a screen that isn't in the dash, and a removable speaker.

I think the removable speaker is dumb on a multitude of reasons many of which have been mentioned. If, I was 20 years old I'd probably think the speaker was an even dumber idea. I can't even think of the audience Toyota is trying to tap with that one.

I mean everyone has their dealbreakers and while I myself am huge into aesthetics and fully support head units being built into the dashboard. For me, specially in a truck and not a luxury car, it's not a dealbreaker to the point I wouldn't test drive a car, or buy it but again that's just my irrelevant opinion.

Unfortunately this is the trend where the industry is going. On the Lexus side of things, they replaced the LC 500's beautiful but outdated dashboard and headunit for a more generic/tacked on looking thing.

Still, Toyota will be having a smaller screen fully integrated in the dash is a guaranteed in the lower trims so if you you feel so strong about it, they are still giving you the option to buy an SR/SR5 with the built in head unit, save some $$$ and use that to mod it to your hearts content:D
