Why is it hard to find roof rack for access cab 2nd gen Tacoma on eBay. But there are tons of roof racks for double cab Tacomas .
Also why do they overprice Tacoma roof racks. Honestly. Other cars and trucks roof racks are a lot way cheaper.

Well, because access cabs don’t have roof holes from factory like the double cabs. Need to drill to mount a rack (example: prinsu or Sherpa) or find some overpriced Yakima or similar towers.

If you pull up those covers on an access cab there are no holes. Double cabs have 2 sets of 2 holes on either side to easily bolt on a factory rack.

Is drilling access cab easy DIY ? I’m scared of that headliner.

Are there any rack outfitter places in your area? There's a few in Seattle that are always busy and know their stuff.

im guessing its because there are more roof racks for double cabs since there are more of them out there. so the companies make roof racks for more popular cars out there.

small amount of access cabs out there, so they dont even bother.

    demand and supply i guess.

Just be careful not to hit your side curtain airbags, if you have them. Idk if 2nd gens do.

A lot of pillar plastics, coat hooks, visors, etc. to remove before you can drop the headliner, but nothing difficult, just time consuming.

I don't think you have curtain airbags (IIRC added in '08 or '09), so one fewer item to get in the way.

Do you have a local "Rack Attach"? I had them drill and mount a Pioneer Platform 6 years ago and it's been rock solid, no leaks in the PNW.

They don't exist because they aren't recommended. There is a thread on here with a guy that did it though.

Because there is no B-Pillar in an access cab, you would want to pay attention to weight. That being said, I'm sure a 100lb wheel/tire would probably be fine?

Keep in mind the already low wt capacity of your 5 lug.

A roof rack loaded up can add a surprising amount of weight quickly. Not to mention the negative affect on handling and MPG

I worked at Rack N Road in Seattle. I would not trust them to drill holes in your roof. They hire high school kids that just don't care. Ned is great but he's not the one doing your truck mod.... And talk about a spot you shouldn't park and leave your car. Aurora Ave in Seattle right next to the Dollar Tree. I only had my window busted out once, that's all it took.
