https://www.digikey.com/en/product-highlight/p/phoenix-contact/wire-marking-solutions this was the line we used at the panel shop. They had apparently been using other brands before that but they said the phoenix was way better. I had never used anything else at that point so I had no frame of reference... I found it finicky. Plus the replacement labels are expensive AF, I can only imagine the cost of needing to start up with everything. There were 3 different label sizes to cover every wire ga from 20 to 4

Otherwise only other experience I have is with a Brother PT-E500 label printer. Slightly more finicky to use vs the pheonix contact system, but the labels are waaaaayyy more reasonably priced

Good rec, thank you. We have all these ex-Canadian transit buses we’re outfitting and my job is to rip all the transit bus systems out; like the signage, fare acceptor, passenger counter, etc. systems out and replace it with our own equipment. I like to keep everything labeled.

Bonus, here’s a different bus I’m trying to tidy up.

I completely missed the whole point was large format flat labels. Dunno what you consider large. We use a dymo label printer for our bin locations at work, not sure the model but I can get that info for you on monday

Good on you for wanting to keep everything labeled. That last one looks horrible to deal with. Makes my skin crawl seeing it that untidy

The worst part is everyone is afraid to cut out unused wiring, so it would just pile up.

I’m the only one who took the time to trace the unused systems and cap them off. These ex-transit buses we got were so full of wires and it took me a lot of research to figure out what I could remove.

    They’re super clean now though.

RIP unknown critical safety systems :luvya:

But that is some clean work, good job. And good for the company for paying you to go through the effort. All that as a project is alot of man hours

I was so nervous cutting them out of the first bus. But I triple checked the schematics, they were all dead ends and/or used for the fare acceptors, infotainment, and fleet management crap.

I have to do this for 14 more buses haha

honestly after looking at stripping down a factory harness + factory ECU + paying someone to flash a base tune and all of that I'm not going to come out much cheaper than the Holley base kit. Plus then I can beg @Speedytech7 and @treyus30 to tune it for me :p :D

I'm thinking about ordering this for airing up. I wonder if it'd be good enough for MTs though.
