    Official statement from Toyota's FAQ:

'Can I use any brand of 0W-20 synthetic oil?

Genuine Toyota motor oil 0W-20 utilizes a Toyota-specific additive package that will provide the best results for oil performance and fuel economy. However, other 0W-20 synthetic oils can be used as long as they are ILSAC certified, which is found on the oil container label.'

Even Wally World super tech oil is decent, I'd just not let it go 10k miles between oil changes.

WM sells M1 0-20 for $24 or so for a 5 qt jug so not really. This is what I use and how I get it. I hit the dealer for a stock filter. WM sells stock Toyota filters but I’ve heard of several counterfeits coming from there as Toyota part counterfeits seem to be getting more common.

    I'm using that now.
At $21.48 for 5qt it's a good deal. I usually change the oil and filter every 5,000 to 6,000 miles so it should be fine.

I've compared WM sourced toyota filters from my local WM to one from the dealer. I believe it was genuine. I did buy a 3 pack from an Amazon vendor that were suspect that I returned after comparing to a dealer sourced filter.
I would buy filters from walmart but I can get them cheaper by ordering from parts.toyota.com and picking them up at the closest dealer ( Falkner Toyota Harrisburg) that offers discounts online. its a 30 minute freeway drive there so when I order I just get multiple things I'll eventually use in the same order to make it more worth the trip.

Yeah using 10W-30 didn’t cause that engine to blow. See this post on that thread:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/wrong-oil-in-engine.784027/page-2#post-28043200
He had rod knock and overheating issues leading to blown heads. That wasn’t the oil causing that. He also had installed an aftermarket magnuson supercharger.

    The lessons learned there are
    1. Overheating - find the cause and fix it don’t keep driving.
    2. don’t expect the warranty to cover it since they test the oil, saw the magnuson supercharger, and found a good excuse not to cover it.

Oil is oil though. Supertech Kirkland, and Amazon, all made by Warren distribution meets Toyota specs and even GM dexos. Changing it regularly is what matters most but everyone has a favorite brand they believe in. Im going to keep trucking :burnrubber:

I'm currently using Kirkland oil in my tractors, been ok. From what some have told me that oil isn't the best to run in old engines as it hasn't the zinc additive amounts the name brand oils have, but you don't want zinc in these new engines anyways, as it would kill the catalytic converters.

Any GF-6A oil is perfectly fine. I personally use mostly Amsoil and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum.
