just clean everything up with brake cleaner/degreaser and see if it still leaks.

I just did it for the first time on my 2020 ACOR. I installed an EZ Oil Drain valve in place of the drain plug. The plastic oil filter housing cap was a bitch to remove. I ended up hammering away at it with an impact wrench on the adapter tool while cringing until it finally started to move a little. I did the rest by hand, and it was tight most of the way. I hope my loose reinstallation will make this better next time.

I removed both skid plates because I wanted to look around and lube up fasteners I may need to remove later.

This post is a good reminder to have a peek under the truck to make sure the oil is staying where it should!

Hopefully you remembered to fill the oil housing canister before you screwed it back up there. These 3.5 engines do not like dry starts with an empty oil filter.

I use a breaker bar to remove the filter housing and a regular length socket wrench to install. You can use a torque wrench but I just install until the housing comes to an abrupt stop. You need to install the large o-ring correctly. Just look at the diagram on the filter box. After a couple of oil/filter changes the process becomes easy to do.

A little oil seepage prevents undercarriage rust. In all seriousness, it's probably dripping off the skid as others have mentioned and not leaking. Plastic oil filter housing works fine.

Same-ish. I got away with reusing crush washers for 15 years or so and never had a leak. Recently switched to Fumoto valves.

If the oil pan drain bolt isn't leaking I never change that washer either.

Don't beat yourself up too much. At least you remembered to put a filter element in the housing. Sometimes dealer techs forget.

I never change that washer on my tundra in the 19 years owned, and it never leaked. Same for other toyota trucks owned. I've seen guys replaced those blue fiber crush washers, and end up with leaks from not scraping the old one off cleanly. My rule is to let a sleeping dog lie, and not to go make more work for yourself.

This ^^ . Unless the o-ring was replaced properly, it will leak . You’re not alone if you messed this up.

Threre's a big debate among auto techs changing atf fluids. Many don't recommend flush's for high mileage vehicles as the new fluid can loosen all the varnish and curd inside the tranny causing bigger issues. I've only done those 4 qt. drain and replace atf changes. My last tundra auto was still working great doing that with 292k miles when I sold it.
