    Is that video really legit??

I was Army, not Marines, and I served in a whole different universe than what it's like today... but seriously?? While I was never on that end of a room inspection, so I don't know what it was like even in my day, I have a shit ton of questions/disbeliefs about that video.

Yes the Barracks were cleaned every Thursday evening by Enlisted E4 and below . If a Sergeant was in that room he didn't have to participate in cleaning

Yes the rooms had to be a cleaner than a hospital and white glove tested clean . In another words if dust can be found on any surface it had to be clean . The 90deg angle to another object or not being level is also true . Even inside wall lockers all uniforms shoes or combat boots were heavily scrutinized especially all Irish penants ( loose threads removed)

The Marine inspecting that room was either a NCO or Senior NCO of E6 or above and was inspecting it prior to Friday mornings inspection by any of the Commanding officers staff

Ok, it was just some of his comments really made me question the legitimacy.

"I don't like the color of the carpet - write it down".
"Stuff up there - write it down".
"What is this [plate covering a wall switch box] - write it down".

I absolutely agree with white glove tests, looking for shoes not quite lined up correctly/dirty/un-presentable.... anything that is within the SM's ability to have in presentable condition - is fair game. But how the hell can you ding an SM for the color of carpet? They didn't install it... or the cover on a switch/junction box, they certainly didn't put that in place.

I'm guess that guy just got done with PT, or maybe it was a weekend.... but him being dressed in civvies like that also made me wonder. My unit, we never had after hours/weekend inspections, they were always done during normal hours. And I'm pretty sure everyone in the inspection group was in one uniform or another LOL.

In my barracks, they were 3 person rooms, we each had a standing wall locker and bunk. I had several clear plastic document protector "sleeves" taped to my wall locker on the outside door. I kept various magazine pictures of pretty ladies in them :D but would usually remove said pictures and put them inside my locker when we had announced inspections. Well, one time our BN CSM decided to do a walk through, and he picked my room, among others. We were not told until after the inspection. And you guessed it, my document protectors were occupied by various beautiful ladies when CSM went through. My Squad leader (E5) told me in private later that afternoon that CSM obviously saw them, casually commented that I had good taste in women, but made no other remark. And I didn't get to take a 20 mile hike because of it

"I'm getting married after this shit."

    NO!! Don't do it... it's a TRAP!!!!!!!!!!!! :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Actually, in this second video, that SM got off easy! As soon as that E5 found the first FAIL, I was fully expecting him to go into overdrive with the inspection. He didn't even look in drawers, wall lockers, under the sink...... seemed much less critical that the guy in PT gear in the first video.

My unit, we had our Squad Leaders (E5's) go through our barracks rooms at least once per week. We never knew which day, just that it would happen a minimum of once every Monday-Friday. We would get dinged if we hadn't completely wiped the shower dry every morning, the sink, replaced the trash bag, bunks not fully made with tight hospital corners..... Oh, yeah. Those were the days. But I must say, I learned how to clean any and everything from my Army days. And how to keep things clean.

are you sure they are ramps. usually find them in moist soil on shady side of a ridge, there are look alike plants that are not edible, purple stem is the give way to ramps as well as the leaves. but they do grow in WVA,TN,and KENTUCKY. we go to WVA to pick them. bout an hours drive away yo get deep in the Alleghenys. These came off Spruce Knob

Makes sense to me it snowed yesterday morning here so was bound to head your guys way ;) Lets hope we don't get 18" snow April 1st like ~10 years ago :(

2 weeks ago went down to Northbrook Sportsman Club near Great Lakes Naval Base for sporting clay lessons. Maybe you can teach an old dog new tricks.

Was 81° when I left Grayslake, Il. and 40° by the time got back to Mn. Next day was looking forward to putting into practice some of what I learned. But got snowed\rain\sleeted out they didn't throw any birds at the club here. Kerry told me to hold the gun with my right hand like I was holding onto a glass of 18 year old Scotch. I only had 12 year old so did my drills with that while grilling some chicken.

Don't forget Western NC Dewayne! Annual ramp festival is in Waynesville next weekend. Ex used to complain I smelled like ramps for a week afterwards LOL. Oh and  buddy!

Waiting on a call from the dealer now for a final quote. The Baja rear shocks are Bilstein 6112 with remote reservoir rated at 650 pounds and custom valved for the Taco. Restricted item and they are waiting on a call from Toyota as to cost. Both of course are shot. But they work really well especially on washboard roads which I spend a lot of time on.

I agree with @Tacoma Mike and hate to change from OEM when possible. But both leaf packs are locked up and need replaced. She said that is $2200 for a pair?!?! Seems awfully expensive to me for factory leaf springs custom are a lot cheaper than that. But wasn't planning on a custom pack. I only plan on keeping it for a few more years if that. Ugh. Double Ugh.

Definitely some tongue-in-creek in there, mocking some of the uber silliness of Friday morning inspections. Semper Field day anyone? LOL

I only got to live in BEQ's for about the last 8 months of my service time, a trip to 29 Palms then a C130 trip over to Saudi Arabia consumed the rest of my remaining time. NCO's had 2-3 in the 2 man rooms. We didn't have any sofas, microwaves, coffee makers, ect.. just a wall locker, single bunk and an optional foot locker. Bicycles had to kept in the REC room. I had my CR500 chained to the outside bike rack until I get bitched at enough that a riding buddy let me keep it in his garage on base housing.

We had some fun with the non-rates and boots during field day rituals. :D

Afternoon folks!! I’ve been schedule flipping leaving this afternoon heading north ending in MA way too close to Boston. I’ll probably turn right around and head for the woods. I’ve been watching YouTube videos and a couple places are on my radar turns out I come very close all the time. Roscoe NY turns out that’s trout town and supposedly has a couple top ten streams. And another in pa that I get very close to every trip Jim Thorp I’ve heard of him but didn’t know the town named for him was that close and had some good fishing.

Marty I see you still broke the internet and are stuck at 17 posts! :D

I grew up fishing the "Kill" well sometimes, it was a bit more than an hour away. Roscoe is the epicenter and Lee and Joan Wulff set up their fly fishing school and home around there in the late 70's. Haven't fished it since then and there were lots of people on the water back then. Lots of people.

Pa. side of the border I fished mainly NC, the Poconos were for football camp, again lots of people.

In the mid 80's was stationed down in Lancaster County on recruiting duty and got to know Bob Clouser (think Clouser minnow) very well. His son now runs the shop but Bob turned me onto a lot of smaller limestone streams. South Central Pa. is full of them. Used to run back up "home" to fish the mountain freestone streams that I grew up fishing but once I started to fish the limestone cricks that stopped. If you can get some time to hit that area your life will never be the same again. Different fishing, cress bug flies for wet flies and a lot different than freestone. But the trout are huge, unbelievably so. Still love my little mountain stream brookies and specs though.

    Good luck and have fun!

they are more of a novilty. we fry them up with potatoes and eggs. they make a heck of a dip in a recipe we all use. but,the real Macoys are big one like this batch, pickle them.and only eat them on your days off. except the dip we take to work and everyone is eating it.
