Forgot to bring this camping the last couple of days. Gotta make up for lost time.

My weekend haul. I think I went a little crazy. Pavilions had a 20% off sale this weekend. :D

I was also running low on Hendricks and Mr. Black, but they were all out of Hendricks, so I am giving Gray Whale a try!

Main thing to pay attention to with scotch in regards to the peat levels is the region of Scotland it's made in. If you're looking to avoid high peat levels, steer clear of anything that's an Islay, and in my experience, most Campbeltown makes. Speyside, Lowlands, and non-coastal Highlands are probably going to be more to your liking.

I tried the TJ Bourbon last night, bottle actually wasn’t bad. Not much sweetness, but did pick up some spices in it, which paired great with the Old Fashioned I made with.

Finally. Now we'll just have to wait 2-3 months before they send notification emails out :annoyed:

I read good things about it, and at $15/bottle, I figured what the hell!

A couple of years ago when I was getting into Scotch, the wife found this chart for me.

Jason is hilarious, I've been watching him for a while too.

One thing I have to argue against on that chart though... Laphroaig 10 may be a lot of things, but light isn't really one of them. I'd move that over to the rich side, personally. It's definitely more rich that Coal Ila 12 and Tally 10.

I can't argue with that statement. Mainly because it's been over a year since I last took a pour from my bottle of Laphroaig 10... lol

I remember the first time I tried the laughing frog... it was... interesting. The bartender asked "Are you sure?"

I was in fact, not sure.

Fast forward a few years and Islay whisky became some of my favorite of all. I've been through several cask strength L10s and Cairdeas bottles that I can no longer find after moving to Idaho.

On a whim, I (perhaps unknowingly) dove head-first into my first Laphroaig. I was in Costco, and declaired to my (now) wife, "I think I'm going to try getting into Scotch." I bought one of every Scotch they had under $60. The first bottle I cracked was the Laphroaig, after I was warned by a buddy, "You know that's basically a campfire in a glass, right?" I was hesitant, because I'm not a fan of smoke, but I immediately liked it! Funnily enough, it was the only bottle from that shopping trip I actually liked!

Same. I've seen people complain about the later releases of Double Rye, but the Calvados cask one of those that I have is pretty good.

I find the labels interesting, Light vs Rich and Smoky vs Delicate.

The labels weren't entirely clear to me, but I just figured I was alone in that. :notsure:
