Observe the rare Woodworking Turtle (Routingus Beakus Shellus). Some are surprised by the fierce appearance of the eyes, the bright red being unusual in the turtle family. But one needs only wait to determine that that creature is only fierce about the completion of the tasks that nature has, through selective evolution, embedded in her brain as an undeniable drive.

Every morning she rises from her nightly rest and looks around her humble den to see if any of her neighbor woodworking turtles have stolen her carefully gathered materials. Once satisfied she still has all of the material needed to complete her projects, she sets hard to work.

Nature has provided her with a beak harder than the teeth of a beaver, allowing her to shape any product she has chosen for her tasks. And she has learned well how to use that beak for make any shape or size cut in the materials with a precision unmatched in the animal kingdom.

The one skill this remarkable creature doe not seem to have mastered is the 45 degree picture-frame cut. But still she endeavors to conquer that last hurdle.

Keep trying, little routingus beakus shellus.

Pick yourself up a plug cutter, then drill a shallow borehole and bury those screws under the plug that you've cut from the same wood species. You can get a near grain match if you choose your plug locations wisely, unless you're going for the aesthetics of the exposed screws.
