He was talking about the 4th gen tacoma getting IRS...I am pretty sure there is some confusion going on regarding what IRS is.

Ha! Apparently I need more coffee. Went back and re-read bats post. He did say 4G. All the 4G, 4R lingo I got it wrong.

Years ago I suggested that the Taco needs IRS since it is a lifestyle truck and got roasted. Good to see it at least is getting a linked solid.

    IIRC, Solo Motorsports built it.

I'm in the minority here - but I used to HATE the screens that high so much so that instead of buying a RAV4 for my wife I got her a CRV. A year later, traded it, got the RAV4, and LOVE the screen at hat height. You never have to look down - it's in clear vision of the road. (BTW- Honda has the WORST software on the planet when it comes to audio)

Well I misspoke it was late in the evening and after explaining the same point for about the 4th time while adding some more comparisons for good measure, and it's only trucks to begin hardly an important topic of discussion. Yeah I said the wrong thing.

Everyone already knows the 4th gen Tacoma will be equiped with a coil sprung multi link solid rear axle.

With new Brono sales growing in q1 of 23
https://fordauthority.com/2023/04/ford-bronco-sales-numbers-figures-results-first-quarter-2023-q1/, and Tacoma being the #1 selling midsize pick up in q1 of 23. Both vehicles being midsize BOF vehicles which are most likely to be otioned with 4wd. I think it's safe to say. Bronco buyers have cross shopped the Toyota Tacoma.

I can only say that will get a few teasers until the end of may, then a video in early June with an unofficial release video/website page in late June/early July, then finally a "official" release at the Detroit Auto Show on Sept. 13-24 of this year.

Same. Didn’t like that the 2nd row seats didn’t fold flat. Crossed shopped from Subaru Forester/Outback, 4Runner, Tacoma, Ranger, Tundra, F150-350, Silverado 1500-3500, Tahoe. Was all over the map for a do-it-all vehicle. Tacoma was the Goldilocks.

Was definitely cross shopping the bronco and taco last summer. Only reason I didn't go with the bronco is because I didn't want to wait 2+ years for a base model Sasquatch 2 door v6. The toyota dealership had about 12 pages of tacoma allocations and I got mine in under a month which was about 2 or 3 weeks earlier than expected.

I like the Bronco, but Ford reliability is a huge question mark for me.

Yeah, I ultimately decided against the bronco because it was a new model and I figured Ford isn't the greatest reliability wise, let alone on a brand new model that hasn't proven itself yet. That and the wait times had me leaning more towards the taco. I'm really happy with my decision.

The dash cover is deceiving you. It looks the same as the JBL teaser image looking at the edges and where it lines up to the top of the instrument cluster. Not every trim had a difference in unit on other products. Look at Rav4s they all have the big screen just different actual screen size on the front between trims. I would not assume Toyota will have multiple screen dash layouts but different size and like JBl, dynamic nav, etc.

    Example:

    Nope, I completely disagree.

If you look at the dashboard layout, you can easily tell it's not a tablet style due to the shape and more importantly the height.

Furthermore, the new Tundra is a much more reasonable comparison than some SUV lol and guess what the layout is for the SR/SR5?

Not sure what the issue is with the larger screen. Looks good to me. Unless you’re 4’ tall shouldn’t have an issue seeing over it.

Okay, I don't want to be nosy, but I'm guessing you might be well informed on these plans to state this? It doesn't make sense to me personally, but I don't matter at all in terms of my opinion on what another company has set in motion.

I find it odd how media people are being courted for an event of sorts on May 16th and another forum member had been hinting at this to me. A dealer GM with good intentions can tell me anything he wants to, but he doesn't have the final say on what Toyota marketing staff has in place. For the others, I'd be surprised at their information being wrong.

If Toyota was to keep teasing this truck all the way into September, that's nonsensical and possibly very disastrous to their image. It won't torpedo their truck sales entirely, but it will dent them somewhat amongst those who use social media.

They're already seemingly dropping NA powertrains, which is an advantage they've had over their competition, so anyone with sworn loyalty the past 18 years, can easily be swayed by childish marketing tactics and go to a competitor, who doesn't annoy them to that degree and insult their intelligence. 6-8 weeks of teasers is marginally tolerable, but 6 MONTHS is an entirely different matter. Even the Tundra teasers at worst ran 4 months from May 18 to September 19, 2021. COVID-19 was the reason it didn't get revealed sooner.

Increasing that by 4-6 weeks on top of those 4 months, I can't even imagine the uproar.

Since I do not work for Toyota, I am just an industry messenger at best and can only say I'm personally not expecting that to be the case. Us automakers, are no longer beholden to revealing our important products at auto shows. That's why Toyota created the HQ Campus Confidential in 2021, as a response to COVID shutdowns. Every June they introduce new MY vehicles, while withholding some others until later in the year.

After we saw what April 4th was, a date of simply confirming that the redesign was coming (for the public), but not a reveal, I've kept quiet about being certain about anything. Unless someone works for Toyota here or very closely with them, I have a hard time believing that trajectory to be even accurate (based on other insight), but I am so-o-o not the final world on things that are happening at another company. No offense (I hope).

Yup, they did a great job even integrating the big screen compared to many other manufacturers or even the Rav4 someone posted.

The fact that the screen is not sitting on top of the dashboard, allowing you to see the ugly back of it is great.

I don't see what the problem is.

Toyota teased the new Tundra for many months, while releasing photos and eventually videos, and some specs, then only did a full spec reveal with trims/prices/etc until many months later.

4 more weeks is nothing really, a vocal minority can uproar all they like yet they will go buy this truck asap when it's finally at the dealers.

Them waiting to do a full spec reveal at an actual auto show later on, does not mean they are not going to release plenty of info in the meantime.

So these are just theories then? If so, that's okay. They'll find themselves in hot water doing teasers for a full half year, even longer than the Tundra. Teasers for this truck began on March 23, 2023. Waiting until September to reveal it, is out of the ordinary even for Toyota.

They did not officially tease the 2022 Tundra for many months. 4 months isn't "many" in my opinion, it's more on the side "few". COVID impacted their ability to hold a large scale event in the summer, which is why most of their 2021MY redesigns were not revealed that way in 2020 and just by video at HQ for both the Sienna and Venza. Mirai predated COVID shutdowns.

To my memory, Toyota showed the first teaser of the Tundra on May 18, 2021. Anything before that, didn't count at all.

    May 18, 2021 Teaser
    2022_Tundra_Teaser_01_Original.jpg
    https://s3.amazonaws.com/toyota-cms-media/toyota-videos/2022_Tundra_Teaser_01_Video.mp4

After that, they got leaked 4 weeks later on June 17th and in annoyance, then revealed the exterior on June 18, 2021.
    2022-Toyota-Tundra-leaked-photo-01-1.jpg
    2022-Tundra_First-Look.jpg

Followed by more teasers into September 2021.

Unless you have inside information, I'm not certain about this at all. The circumstances around the Tundra reveal were very different.

They withheld a great deal of information until September 19, 2021 and I don't see them repeating that again at all.

I guess we’ll see. But I still disagree the new dash has a different angle and layout than the Tundra and the height is the same / level with the top of the cluster and you can see the thick edges on the side as well as the lower dash behind the screen even in the mule unlike the tundras built in.

And how could you possibly know that that specific mule is a sr5 trim besides a best guess, even the 2016 late mules seen testing were a mix up of trim level pieces. The gauge cluster also appears to be a hybrid max looking at the display which is only available on higher trims with the tundra and would assume upcoming Tacoma.

“Some suv, lol” you do know Toyota shares parts in the bin across a wide range of products. The tundra and Tacoma have never been a clone of each other nor interior Toyota would not eat into two of their models market by having them entirely similar. Not saying it’s gonna get the Rav4 screen, doubt it but don’t think it’s gonna be exactly the same as the tundra and that’s evident by the photos we’ve seen so far already.
