    A few.
Not the same frame, same platform design. Platforms can be stretched and shrunk as needed

Very random and probably irrelevant on a Taco Tuesday, but I've learned that the 2021 BEV concept wasn't just a regular lifesize design mockup, but advanced enough in the sense it was literally a low-speed battery powered mockup. Usually to have that, you're pretty far along. with the vehicle. It was similar in ability to this teaser concept as well. They can either be remote controlled or low-speed vehicles on golf cart engines.

I think Toyota is being cryptic in the context, because they've already shown us the truck already (in their belief) and did it 16 1/2 months ago in 2021. That's the granddaddy of all teasers, showing the whole truck at multiple angles, just not the interior. It was the only concept they refused to give a name. All you're getting at this point, are just marketing photos of the exterior per trim levels. The powertrain, interior and features are 10x more important, than an exterior profile shot at this point, which we also got in silhouette on April 4th.

Great! It's too bad it came across that way. Going forward I actually don't reply to anyone on my newly formed ignore list, which is extremely short. (I don't like to ignore anyone.) 99.99% I have zero issues with.

I think I've found the mention you're referring to on YouTube, plus people commenting there are saying the same thing now. I made sure to check if any of it predated the comments here and yep, a few do. They have their own source information, like at @JTacoma4life.

It seems that a few dealer people must be talking too much, for that to be passed around so loosely. Well, IDGAF anyway, Toyota deserves it for the BS campaign. Leaks, leaks, and more leaks. Too bad, but at least they didn't get their truck LEAKED illegally almost 5 years before it hits USA! At Ford, what is the 2024 Ranger was illegally leaked in February 2019 and it was too late to make styling changes. Toyota got ahead of that themselves and played their hand well, but are fudging it up now with these dumb teasers.

They already let the cat out of the bag over a year ago themselves and then Brazil kicked their ass for it too (patent drama), so these 2 remaining teasers could be a turd with a TRD badge and they will still get press and then beat everyone else in units come next year. It's too close to matter at this point, if their marketing people can't get their act together.

That's what puzzles me, never seen anything like it. Maybe TrailHunter is offered as a DCLB, while TRD Pro is DCSB only? Considering what is being claimed, wouldn't TrailHunter be a hybrid like TRD Pro? It would be dog slow, with a sub-300 hp turbo I4 without hybrid assist.

Are these really test mules anymore? With high performance trim levels or platform shared lux badge versions, I've seen future models tested in the yet to be revealed volume model's body as mules, but this might be a verification/integrated prototype wearing final sheetmetal and everything.

It's a synthesis of several people matching each others info, which suggests some truth to it indeed. You have media personalities who love to talk too much, hinting at this being credible in many different spots and entering preparation mode (via press embargo) to cover it. Dealer personnel insisting on it, unlike the case with the April 4th date, which very few commented on. It being a "Taco Tuesday", fits well enough. Part of me is hoping that lady and the arrogant dealer guy on Reddit, isn't right about what he's saying regarding late June. I trust this more than those two.

Makes sense, but I'm always ready for disappointment and seeing a much later date. A lot of people all of sudden are hinting at knowing, such as TRDJon, which they weren't a week or 2 ago. They definitely know something and have been sworn to secrecy.

David using his strengths here is what I respect greatly, instead of him knowingly providing misinformation. I've seen them in traffic all over Greater Detroit, but it is often in the opposite direction, it's just not worth my time getting it off my dashcams. Photographers and journalists should be the ones taking these photos, but clearly they are nowhere to be found as usual.

I often feel like the automotive media, doesn't care about everyday vehicles from brands like Toyota and Honda, just high performance and/or European stuff.

I think the 2022 Tundra was the first vehicle to my knowledge, to implement this kind of camouflage in 2018-19

For Toyota's sake, hopefully it is. They have less limitations than ALL of their competition, working with an all-new design. From the Frontier to the Ranger, nothing else is new to the 2020s and existed in some form last decade.

I've helped do that actually, particularly on some 2022-24 models out there...(just not Toyota).

Sometimes one might hear that we've finished the first prototypes of a new body, but due to the time needed to design the sheathing to be functional and hide the styling, it might delay the rollout of testers for public rounds. After, it's really up to the photographers to catch us. From what I can tell, they're not as observant as yesteryears. They've gotten too uncomfortable, considering that the next generation 4Runner has been testing North America since early 2021.

The Titan and Frontier are a good example of how that can be very different, but I'd think 20 years since F-Alpha debuted in 2003 and 2004 on the Frontier. Toyota figured out how to approach modern modularity well. TNGA-F brought some compromises to the 2022 Tundra, compared to the 2021 model unfortunately.

Luckily that's my day at least.

I think the access cab will be gone for the small double cab and crew cab like the Tundra

^I think that's what we're seeing in the prototypes, though it makes the DCLB longer than the CCSB. Not sure if there will be a CCLB.

Doubt it. Had one for 6 years and the top got removed a handful of times. Toyota knows this, majority of todays 4Runner demographic will never either. Not worth the effort on their part.

They had the chance with the FJ Cruiser and blew it.

    Ohhh gawd, noooooo…

Well, that should help some folks on this site make a choice on a 23 or a 24.

I find this to be an acceptable teaser.

Now the question is if the current MT+V6 is carrying over or if Toyota invested in a new MT + 2.4 turbo mating.
