How did they take the wire harness clean off? Wouldn't that involve opening the hood? Did you have the truck unlocked?
Either way, I would switch parking spots with a neighbor that you don't like. Then see if they get stuff stolen. *wink*

First and foremost , calm the fuck down. There with that being said , you're best course of action is to make the report and do nada. Why would you want to risk your future over something as minuscule as a pod light? Or hub caps ? Save up your money and put your energy into purchasing your own home. You can replace the lights/hub caps. If you kill or seriously hurt someone you're done. And lest we forget , that there's always someone bigger and badder out there. Why would you want to even meet the scumbag.

Does your apartment look out onto the parking lot where you park? set up a ring camera and see if you can catch it happening. But honestly if you confront someone do it with access to a weapon, you never know how it will escalate.

Red loctite your next set. A LOT of Red Loctite. Force them to work harder and use a grinder which makes a lot of damn noise. That is my short-term suggestion. Long-term suggestion: move to a complex that has attached or detached garages so your Taco is secure overnight. Even if you have to get a garage around the corner from your unit.

Unfortunately, someone sees you as food and he or she may not even live in your complex. You live in California so lying in wait is beyond stupid and posting about lying in wait is even dumber. It would be nice if cat shields were not a thing and ditch light thieves do not exist but they do. The best advice I have is to go to your leasing office and see if they have open garages on property. If not, move as soon as you can to a place that does have garages.

It is shitty this happened to you and I'm sorry. I would feel the same way. Watch some of Wes Watson's early videos on YouTube if you want to see what California prison is like. Yo DO NOT want to jeopardize your future for some fuckin' Cali Raised LEDs (or whatever brand you had).

Edit: Ask the manufacturer of your next set of lights for the bolt size and thread pitch then buy two security nuts in the appropriate size. Be sure to use Red Loctite as well. This will protect your setup about as much as can be protected. They can still grind the bolts off but there is almost nothing you can do to make ditch lights grinder proof. If someone wants your stuff, they are going to get it. Period. The only thing you can do is make yourself a harder target.Screenshot 2023-05-02 at 6.46.59 AM.jpg

You can get a camera but the police probably won't care about it. I'd take the brackets off and plan on moving. You live in the hood.

    1. Buy a pair of LP9’s and mount then to the bumper
    2. Spill a bag of ball bearings on the drive way
    3. Set up game cam

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Too bad people don’t get their hands cut off for stealing…would have made it difficult for the perp to remove the lights, now hubcaps, you can kick those off.

Thieves might be the most frustrating criminals to deal with… it’s like the bitch of the criminal world. Too lazy to work and not enough balls to get dirty.

I really think we should start popping off fingers for this…I mean it’s not like you can justify taking shit that isn’t yours. But without fingers, that’s a pretty good lesson wouldn’t you agree.
Our justice system is weak and broken.

On the serious side though, don’t get hasty and let this person get you out of your comfort zone.

I used to live in downtown ATL…owned a landscape biz, and I ran into a lot of mutha fuckers. I have had several altercations, some did not end well, and going to court over it made me realize where exactly I was.

At the end of it all, you just have to move.

Find a place where you like the community and be a part of it. I left that town and gave up a shit ton I had worked for. I realized that it was beyond the point of return…and there was a good chance you could loose everything quickly.
But it was a better to move than me killing someone eventually over some stupid shit, like a zturn or blower.

For those thinking of moving there for
$$$$, don’t, you will regret it. Fucking town is now all savages and the police force down there is a joke.

Until appendages start getting removed, the inmates will run the asylum.
Save all that money you were going to spend on cameras, and move. Who are you going to hand the footage to? Are you really going to go through the length to get pics/vid, only to take it down to the local PD so they can laugh at your petty crime? PA’s are letting violent criminals walk, don’t think for a second they are going to go hunt someone down for hubcap theft.

My guess is that it"s someone in the complex who is pissed off at you. They have targeted your parking space. People get nuts for a lot of reasons. Do they think your music is too loud? Do they not like your haircut? Whatever the reason, I'm thinking someone has a perceived grudge and this is their pre-adolescent manner in which to get "even".

in 8th grade, someone went into my parents garage and took my 100 piece blow-molded socket set that i had stashed just inside the door. the set that i had saved up all through 6th-7th grade to afford. (i could have also left it outside-- given my age and attention span, but we're accusing people here!)

i was so angry, i rode my bike all over town convinced i was going to find the person that took that priceless $50 socket set. i believe the prevailing thing was that i was going to shove sockets down their throat and then use the socket wrench to gouge out their eyes.

i never found them, or the socket set. but i got plenty of exercise, it kept me busy for a whole summer. it also taught me to lock the garage door.

I had my own neighbors teenagers, breaking into my 4runner one early morning in my fenced in backyard.

I woke up the alarm and let the dogs rip!

They got the pointy side of my 100lbs hog hunting Catahoulas in downtown ATL. They got mauled to shit, I mean really bad. Both went to the hospital for a week.

Yes, I could have called the dogs off, but there is a lesson we all learn about respect. Some of us have scars from those lessons, some fly by without a scratch….others it’s the last thing they experienced.

Thieves are everywhere. Keep your shit locked up, only care about your possessions to a point, and live where there are like minded people.

Get to know your neighbors. People don’t do this anymore, which is fucking odd to me.

Place a few game cameras in select areas with overlapping coverage. Over lap the target as well as your cameras.

I’m staying neutral here, but maybe let’s not talk about mauling people with your dog and cutting off fingers for stealing?

Especially that last sentence! Just don’t understand that. Neighbors used to look out for each other. Now they don’t even know each other.
Anyway, here’s my two cents… Get a dash cam that records while the truck is off. They aren’t that expensive and the newer versions that are out now take great videos. Nice and clear.
