Keep them on the roof and use a pistol cable lock.
    upload_2023-5-2_9-54-9.jpg

Having them in the bed is great ... except:
--- when they are needed and other items are in the way to access them
--- when they are needed and you are covered in mud/snow and have to crawl around in the bed
--- when they are covered in mud/snow and you have to put them back in the bed

Obviously, if you know you're heading out into mucky fun, just pre-position them to rear of the bed or to the roof rack -- and don't stop where any thieves are.
It's the surprise need of them that having them stashed far into the bed is a pain. A pain that a simple cable lock will eliminate.

Edit: Oops, missed jdsmith's suitcase lock suggestion before I posted.

Had this one in my shopping cart for a while. I'm not a serious, big time overland guy so I figure this will work for my occasion use.

Knock on wood, I've had mine on my roof for with no lock for almost 3 years now.
They are positioned in the center of the roof rack, hidden between a Pelican case and 1Up bike racks, and if you are under 6' tall you'd need a ladder to reach them.

If I know I'm going to use them I remove them and toss them in the bed for easy access.

And this waste of space has his "ditch" lights pointed straight down his hood. The same place his headlights point?? Ditch lights should point out to the side - where the ditch is!
They're used to illuminate unknown ground before turning into it. Not daily driving on pavement - in DAY LIGHT, no less! The dumb shit.

Why yellow? They are mounted way too high to be of any benefit in thick fog.

Nice setup. With the "longbed" that ought to be pretty comfy. For matresses on that setup Ive used a twin on the bottom. that fits between the wells. Then a queen (or perhaps a double, cant remember) on top of that and it fits to the bed edges. It brings the height to just under the bed rails. Its really comfy and is pretty cheap. The mattresses can be found for only like $10 and $20 bucks respectively.

Yeah, I was going to grab something from ikea or spend the money on the airbedz mattress for it. Though right now I just have folding cots that I use.

Tinted shield gang! Both my vehicles have tinted shields and the cops have never said anything about it - even when pulling me over to ticket me for the sides lol. That was in my tC though which looks like it's straight out of the high school parking lot. The cops out here seem to leave trucks alone unless you're doing something really stupid.

A sub upgrade is absolutely needed on the JBL. The stock sub is inaudible. Hope it works out!

Found the time this weekend to do a proper detail on the truck and re-apply its ceramic coat. It's been feeling a bit rough lately so needed the full wash + clay bar + polish + ceramic treatment. Smooth now :D

Then just because I liked the Hammer Hangers so much, I grabbed these rear wheel sensor guards from Archive Garage. As expected, they are very well-built pieces with perfect fitment. I probably won't actually ever scrape them on anything, but they're really nice insurance and they hide the unsightly plugs. Trying to talk Eric into designing a matching set for the front too, so I don't have to purchase aluminum ones.

Sensor guards look pretty stout. I went with the Jomax Customs (https://jomaxcustoms.com/jomax-buy-...for-the-toyota-tundra-jomax-customs-lcc-37l52) which are aluminum. What are your objections to aluminum?

Those are OOS everywhere with no ETA, lol. I like that they attach to multiple points but would rather run steel if it's available. They're the best aluminum option for sure though.

I like that those Archive Garage ones don't have a riding condition on the speed sensor wire, and also have two attachment points.

Having a bit of buyers remorse y’all. Toyota just teased the 2024 Tacoma 4th gen with a manual transmission. My #1 reason for buying the Tacoma when I did was because all signs pointed to a manual not being offered with the 4th gen. Still love the truck so it’s not all bad; it is what it is I guess.

He’s part Klingon. It’s a cloaking device - it creates a “glare of invisibility”. That, and he doesn’t give a rat about others.

Good thing about Tacos is they hold their value like gold. You won't have an issue getting top dollar for yours if you decide to trade it in. Personally, I wouldn't get a first year car though.
