Don’t tell my wife…I convinced her to let us get a ‘23 Pro since bets had the manual dying in the fourth gen. Whoops.

That said, I imagine it being even more limited in trim offerings. It’s currently on:
    1. TRD Sport - ACLB only
    2. TRD Off-Road - DCSB only
    3. TRD Pro - DCSB only (cuz it’s the only available config)
Doing the math, there are 15 total cab/bed combos across 7 trims? And that’s not including the 2.7L. And only three offer a MT.

My guess is it’s only in the lower trims with the lower engine spec as the higher spec engine will be the max hybrid and that’s not getting a stick. And I have to imagine the max hybrid will be in the Trail Hunter, Pro, and maybe the Off-Road equivalent.

I dunno I’m trying to make myself feel better about having a third gen Pro stick, lol

My guess too the Max engine will be auto only.

Random stuff. Oh! and converted to non ADD 4x4.
Easy “mod” as some would say. This is a good teaser. Good day guys, good day!

Could be the other way - Toyota figures MT is a hipster/boutique option and makes it available only in the top trims.

I know I would prefer it carrying over from how it is now, just TRD models offering the MT.

I dunno, the teaser tailgate image they had of the TRD Pro had the iForce Max badge on it, which is not their traditional hybrid system, but still a hybrid nonetheless. I'm not an engineer, but it feels like it would be a ton of R&D to stick a manual in the hybrid when I think the only US-model hybrid/manual vehicles thus far have been made by Honda (Insight, Civic, CR-Z). Unless Toyota was going to go ALL out and offer a stick in the 4Runner again, too when it gets refreshed (which would be my dream). With that info, I can't imagine they're going to offer two engine options (iForce Max hybrid and non-hybrid in the TRD Pro and the new Trail Hunter trim or really any trim. The Tundra offers two engines, but no trim offers BOTH engine options. Lower trims get the non-hybrid, the higher trims get the hybrid. So my guess is they do the same with the Tacoma, and given how few and presumably complicated putting a manual transmission in the hybrid would be, I'm guessing it's only coming in the non-hybrid engine.

So the question will be, which trims will come with the hybrid engine and which won't.

EDIT - I was wrong. Tundra does offer both engine options in some trims (Platinum + 1794). Though the Pro is just the hybrid option.

I would totally get an MT. Wish I had waited to get one when I had my 2016 OR. The MT would have been so much smoother than the constantly gear hunting AT.

Which manufacturers have offered a manual hybrid before? I want to say the CRZ from Honda in the 00’s had the option. But 90% of other hybrids are all automatic (CVT as well).

Reading hard for you? I never once said it was gonna share anything with the rav4 I said actually the opposite and used it as an example that there are other options between trims on headunit then just built in and not built in. And I have looked, smarta** and its covered pretty good in the interior covered mule to distinguish any styling cues with the dash besides its level with the top of the cluster just like the JBL boombox teaser. I guess we’ll see but your guess is as good as anyone else’s. Didn’t know when your expert keyboard warrior opinion became the one and only.

Weirdly enough Toyota does introduce complicated technologies if their market research supports them. Think XREAS suspension and KDSS.

They will probably just keep the 2.7 for one trim and put the MT in it...

Oh no, there will be more bitching to come, even from manual fan boys like me.

To be honest, I thought for sure the manual was gone.

I'm not interested in a manual, but I'm happy for the manual bros that they are keeping it.
