I was pretty happy with the 2UZ in my last 4Runner, until I put a cat-back exhaust on and ruined it.

Yeah, V8 swaps are cool. But, I'll just be happy if the Turbo 4 ends up being reliable.

That's what I'm here for, the mods and the gear.
I can't lie, drove manual half my life. But once I switched to auto, never looked back.

Probably around $10-15K for a clean install like that. You might get it done for less, but it's expensive to make it nice. :D

I've heard of people doing LS swaps for around $5K, but it definitely wouldn't be that nice.

Then there's the time. I personally probably have 40-50 hours in on this. I can't imagine the total my buddy put in!

Of course, there's much more than just getting the engine to fit and run. Custom motor mounts, cross member, driveshaft, upgraded suspension, brakes, plumbing, battery relocation, fuel pump upgrade, etc, etc... o_O

The same guy who insisted that if he was going to wedge a 550 horsepower V8 into a GMC Sonoma, he was going to make it look like it came from the factory with it.

It was his wife's truck when they met. When she bought a nicer vehicle (Highlander), he bought it from her and started tinkering.

Haha! That's exactly what my buddy said, when someone asked him about it after it was done.

That formula works with so many projects. It's uncanny.

Powernation said the same about the manuel trans and only mentioned the 3.5, nothing about other engine options and '24 is the last mt.

So, Toyota nation says the 4th gen will be available in a manual, and Power nation says it won't?

This is why I try not to get excited about anything until Toyota actually announces it.

Why bother developing a MT option if it's only for one year, though? Doesn't make sense to me.
