It's less Tacoma and more mod
Trading in schroedinger's box for extra anxiety, that's worth the $30.

I was waiting for the 07 to pop this weekend, when I looked in the mirror and saw a white cloud I almost cried... was just my tires smoking.

I see now why you had such little confidence in it that you traded for another old toyota, it all makes sense. And you missed my question.

Well it just felt like it needed an engine-out reseal with all the oil it was losing, maybe new rings too. I didn’t have the capability or funds to go down that rabbit hole with it. I couldn’t just kept adding oil and driving it as a daily beater, but I missed driving a manual also.

Just over yonder you can see where the Hobbits reside in the hillside.

You'd be like Gandalf amongst their people.

Reminds me of a time I went camping with a buddy where we took forest roads to get there. There was a massive washout on one part of the road where, if you didn't follow a line, you'd need 4x4 to get through. There were 2 way lifted newer Ford trucks at the other end of the washout wringing their hands with worry that they'd have to turn around. For context they had CA plates.

My buddy goes first (stock late 90s F150) and had 1 Itty bitty tire spin where he had to stop and engage 4WD. He got through, told me to goose it on that one section and follow a different line for the rest(since I was in a stock 2WD Astro lol)

Even after we made it through, they still didnt feel confident in driving it themselves... The look of disbelief on the faces of those CA natives as I trundled past in my beat up workvan turned house is something I'll never forget:laugh:

    That's fucking legit.

It's truly as simple as simply getting out and doing it.

I hate videos that make an obstacle or trail look like it's worse than it is, using precisely timed music or emphasis of certain sound effects, or using camera angles to make a rock look like a steep climb.

@Ozark_RegCab recently posted video is a testament to that as you could run that trail in a Prerunner if you wanted. Having some E load tires to air down with would be its biggest strength.

I recall your stories about the Astrovan; you really took that sumbich everywhere didn't you?

I couldn't watch that video because of the editing lol real broverlander energy.

Haha yea, that Astro and I went everywhere we could and boy was it the Duke Shitboxville. A Chevy 4.3 that had a partially stripped distributor mounting bolt so the timing would change while driving. Broken spark plug wire mounts, so some would get too close to the exhaust manifold and burn through, leaving me running on only 4 cyls. 3 different sized tires (2 of equal size 31x10.5s in the back and 2 different sized metric tires up front. Same diameter but different aspect ratios, so one was way fatter than the other) with probably 20 plugs between the 4 of them. Plus alot of other funny quirks.

The only "upgrade" I made to its capabilities was replace the single mono leaf that came stock on the vans, with a junkyard leaf pack off a similar year S10. I've seen damn near every forest road here in WA during the years I lived out of it, some of the best memories I had was when I pulled the passenger seat and built a pen for Gordo (my giant rabbit), she'd ride shotgun looking out the window while I looked for a place for us to sleep for the night

That being said, after being apart of this forum I have learned that I've never actually "wheeled" in my life, the only technical thing I ever traversed were washouts and snow/ice drifts on forest roads, I never made it over the Naches Trail (forest service road 70) but I made it pretty damn far in a 2WD van lol
