So for you knife aficionados, I need some help. My dad gave his hunting knife from when he was a child. It was the only thing he owned after his family home burned down. He was somewhere between 12 and 15 when this happened. The handle was broken and taped together. I'd like to take off the end and attempt to put a new handle on it and then try and clean it up and polish it and what not. I am however having a little difficulty getting the end off. The end appears threaded but won't move. I need suggestions please.

5.7x28 ammo cost has kept me on the sideline looking in on buying one of these for years and years.

 

I had the FN 5.7 and a converted ar-57. I love that ammo

 

Need something like ATF/automatic transmission fluid. Let it soak overnight. Then put handle in vise, wrap the end with thick leather clamp a visegrip on it. then try to unscrew it.
