Yeah, I’m pointing out they’re still struggling with supply while others aren’t. Speculating they’re keeping production lower than their ability

You know, thinking back to Calc 1 I was in awe when my professor, who is a damn genius, would stand up at the board doing all this fancy stuff, then add something like 5x+8x incorrectly.

I guess this is my moment :anonymous:

Point still stands, but yeah I fudged the math.

And I would add that Tacos have always had one of the highest resale values besides a jeep..

You can get 0% on an F-150 + money off. There are better deals to be had and if you wait deeper discounts to come. I picked up a 2.7 eb STX people are still buying the upper trims. I saw a Platinum awaiting delivery to a customer.

I think that comparing the 1/2 tons vs the midsize trucks is wrong. I don't care what the 1/2 tons sell for. If I wanted one I'd buy one. The thing is, I don't want or need one. So the prices really don't matter to me. I paid msrp for my Taco and I'm happy with it. I'm fortunate to have been able to pay cash for it. The domestics are still way overpriced around here, I wouldn't even consider one for msrp. Maybe 15-20k off and I'd still be hard pressed to buy one. They're all just too big and reliability is always in question. The fact remains, I don't need a big truck. The Tacoma is the perfect size. Sure its capability isn't as much as a 1/2 ton but I have a utility trailer that lets me haul more than a 3/4 or 1 ton on the odd occasion that I need to. If Toyota's sales plan is to keep production down so that the lots aren't as overfilled as the domestics who's to say it's bad business? Seems to be working for them.

You are absolutely right about the second part but there is still a big difference between basic availability and a flooded market. It definitely took time and effort to get the Tacoma I wanted, at least in my area.

We paid $2800 below MSRP for a DCSB OR, with advanced technology package and a few other add-ons. Miraculously, no JBL sound upgrade or sunroof. Only “extra” included we didn’t want was the predator steps but dealer was insistent that it couldn’t be removed… something about factory options being unalterable (they were very nice about not installing the $500 ceramic tint we also didn’t want .) So call it $2200 below MSRP. Still a decent deal. Order placed Jan 28, delivered to my door April 11.

(edit: forgot to mention it’s the 4x4 model. Had a 2WD 1st Gen Tundra for years, never again!)

$1,300 off of MSRP and no dealer installed items on low optioned 2WD Sport dbl cab. Previous customer backed out on sale before the unit arrived and I grabbed the in transit unit.

Most dealers I shopped at wanted over msrp or had $2K+ of dealer installed items.

2023 SR DCSB 4x4, purchased Dec 2022. Paid MSRP $34,202 includes $687 in accessories. No trade. OTD around $38,500. Pretty much your base model excluding DC and 4x4.

My deal was pretty similar to Taco23SR.

Situation all over Florida is still a bit weird, specially in SoFla. The standard price for a ‘23 tacoma sr 4x4 was +36k msrp at the lowest point, but still most dealers with markups. They have figure out a way to take advantage of situations, they either add a bunch of accessories to raise the price, or want to make it an obligation to finance with toyota directly, or offer thousands less for trade ins, its just a hassle to find the right deal. I arrived to pick up an SR 4x4 that was in the lot and when i couldnt find it, i noticed it was accessorised with every part in the catalog and marked up to 52k. Pretty much had all scenarios happen to me. When i finally found the vehicle locally, some autonation dealers had an online price for 1k off msrp so used that excuse to have my dealer match it, which they did, but then were pushing hard for me to finance through them at a much higher rate than my bank and while adding extended warranty, etc. after a lot of back and forth they pretty much matched everything i asked and even had to lower msrp down to 34,400$, so i think i got a great deal given the current circumstances since i got it below msrp, with no extras, a great rate, and the 4x4 model i was looking for. Took me about 2 weeks to find but glad i got the deal done.

0% but only for a shorter term. Most people stretch out loan terms to gain a lower payment.

The prices are definitely moving up, the MSRP for a comparable 2023 is about $1,000 more than my 2020 was.
But it seems that the OTD prices are much higher now because the dealerships aren't willing to make 'good' deals.
I got my 2020 for ~8% off MSRP + a $1,000 rebate. That was in November 2019. I don't think you can get anything close to that now.
    Just the way it is.
On a side note, Tacomas and 4Runners have always fetched a premium over comparable models from Nissan, Ford, etc. For me, it's worth it.

Not really, with the options it has, msrp was over 48k. And considering used one with similar options were around 40k, I’m happy.I’m just not sure what msrp means anymore
I paid 53 for my 2020 limited, aside from the front and mirror cams, same options, with a couple additional

Yeah it was a short term loan I was going to put more down when ever I was going to purchase a vehicle. I can't say it really makes sense doing a short term loan, but the end result will be the same.
