Manual transmission should also kill the possibility of start/stop, so that's two wins in one.

I like mine. But if you don't like yours, sell it. They're going for more than MSRP even with 10-15k miles now.

lol no it shouldn't. Why would you assume that? A huge of amount of manual cars have auto stop/start.

Exactly. My cayman has start stop and it's a manual. Thankfully I can keep it disabled by the push of a button and it remembers it after turning off the vehicle too.

Glad they're keeping the manual alive.
Personally I really do appreciate 4-wheeling with my automatic. I'm more interested in their drivetrain.

This is fantastic news!!! I am not sure how many 3rd gen manuals there are, but I am one of them. I have not seen another one in the wild yet though.
As to them being less expensive-when I bought mine in 21, the cost was the same. The only one they had in stock at the time was manual though. Coming from Jeeps, I was excited to get it-but I didnt see a cost difference to the consumer, here in MA.

Highly unlikely to be less expensive. Why? While the transmission itself is far less expensive to manufacture, the development and certification of manual versions of any given vehicle have significant costs and given how low the take rate percentage is, those costs cannot be spread as wide. Long story short, I predict manual versions of pretty much any car short of a GTI (50% manual take rate) will start costing more in the future; a premium I would gladly pay.

I was volunteering at a charity event up in Concord New Hampshire a few months ago and parked next to a line of Tacomas; would you believe three (not including mine) of the eight were manuals? :)

Well I assumed it because I haven't seen one and it sounds horrible.

Just when I thought the Tacoma was done for they come back and totally redeem themselves! I really thought when I seen the 3 pedal post it was faked but alas good for them and us. But it still doesn't change the look of the truck which I am not so sure about but once they release the full picture I will pass judgment. What I do know is they should offer a manual option for each trim level. It sucked having to buy a 22 TRD off road just so I could get the 6 speed but that's what I did!

It actually works a ton better than it does in automatics. The motor only turns off with the car in neutral and the clutch out. You clutch back in and the car is idling by the time you've moved the stick into 1st.

Way closer to a seemless of an experience than the motor starting as you lift off the brake in an automatic. It doesn't interrupt you at all and there's no herky jerky bs like there is with auto start/stop on a lot of automatic cars.

and however, if Toyota teaser photo is actual 4th gen, then we might get manual on a higher trim because they look like aluminum pedals, and given how cheap Toyota is, aluminum pedals are probably only on higher trims

Three metal pedals points to a higher trim!
