Lulz, I remember @shakerhood musing aboot how much side pressure it took to get into the reverse gate...I teased that I envisioned him anchoring his foot on the side of the center console to leverage it over...lmao

Usually peeps complain of wanting Reback but accidentally hitting first, not what your accidentally hitting Reback when you want first

I've never done either by accident *shrugs*

 

I've never had problems on the street, but I have had a problem once I got flustered at the boat ramp (I was brand new to the truck) and out of frustration chose R when I needed 1 more than once.

 

Ahh boat ramps....most entertainment for free than you can ever find

 

The beep going into reverse saved me on a few occasions

 

Yeah - I had not associated the beep with R yet, and was a bit tuned out to pay attention to it anyways. This was like day 2 of owning the truck if I remember right. Wouldn't be an issue now, but definitely annoying at the time.

 

I have two cores, already prepared for this one...

LOL when my truck was new it was a Mo-Fo to go into reverse. After about 7500 miles was when it finally started going in without a fight.

 

My thoughts - they released the picture with the 3 pedals during this blueball/teaser thing they have going. Right now they are trying to get maximum hype going for the halo models. I don't think they'd have put this out during these Taco Tuesdays if it was just going to come with the old engine or the SR base model. They would have just slipped it in at the final reveal of specs and such, whenever they finally get around to doing that. I think the manual is going to come as an option with the Pro and probably the TRD/Trailhunter editions, just like it does now. The question is just what will they match it up with? The new engine is almost definitely an I4 Turbski so maybe the TRD and Pros will get a HO version, with the MT option too, or even the hybrid could come with it. As others have said, it has been done before with hybrids, so it isn't unheard of.

This is great. Now I'm even more interested in the 4th gen even though I plan to keep my 3rd gen long term.

 

I'm thinking Pro only, maybe TH definitely a top trim option only. Toyota wouldn't want to lose a Pro sale to an SR sale because the SR was available with a stick.

Toyota could still walk this back once lroduction starts due to delays and shortages of manual transmissions.

 

The MT for 4th gen is def good news. Looking forward to hearing about the gear ratios.

 

I'm literally shocked.

Toyota apparently mentioned it on Facebook.

Still, my next Taco is hopefully the EV if they have a solid range extender, regardless of price.

 

Not tempted at all by hybrid MT with 30+ mpg's?

4lo 1st gear works fantastic for me.

 

I think it will be same as it is now. Sport, Off-road and Pro will have the manual. The Pro will be a very limited model and I don’t think Toyota will get their money back selling the manual only in Pros.

 

I think a hybrid Max will be making too much torque for the current 6MT. I don’t see Toyota building a completely new trans.

 

The article says the MT will be a modified version of the outgoing MT. So yeah not technically a new trans

 

This news release just made my year! And here I had the mentality that my '22 Sport 6MT was my last new truck thinking the 4th gen prob wouldn't get a wigglestick - talk about Toyota pulling the rabbit from the hat this morning - kudos to them!!!
