Need some neighbourhood info around Destin,FL

Hi all,
So my wife has seen some pics of Destin and is in love with the colour of the water. What are some good “affordable” neighbourhoods within or near Destin?

Or other towns cities with beautiful waters down that way

We have been on the road for a while now (16 months) trying to search for our next new home. We drove 8k miles last year and I’m now putting feelers out for more info before we commit to driving over from Bend, OR.

 

been to destin a few times very nice place i live in tallahassee about 150 east of destin if i could move more beach/coastal area id go to st georges island.....
couldnt tell you whats a nice area in destin or affordable but just about all of the florida coast is nice especially if your getting out of that snow

 

Well, St George’s Island is in play if you have millions to spend.
We live in Eastpoint just a 6 minute drive from the bridge to St George Island.
We really enjoy small town living here and it is only 10 minutes from Apalachicola, 30 minutes from Port St Joe and maybe 40 minutes from Cape San Blas.

 

It all depends on what you are looking for. Destin is over powering during the summer time same with 30A. But you get the best of both worlds if you look around the Fort Walton Beach area( 15-25 mins) from destin. Great location and easy access to all the surrounding destin areas.

 

Niceville is a good spot but has become pricy these days. Freeport is a good spot and prices are more reasonable.
