I made a 1" trailer hitch from 14gauge mild steel and a bike rack from 3/4" 14g plus some random spare parts I had laying around.

if you don't mind, could you post some pics of how you mounted it underneath?

i've decided that my next power wheels jeep project is going to be a small trailer, as the one nephew loves trailers and backing them up everywhere. but the big issue i keep trying to figure out is how to securely mount a trailer hitch without building an entirely new frame under the vehicle.

Lets also not forget all the hours of prep work and fitting for 10 minutes of arc time.

Which I think was part of your point also.

It's mainly supported by the axle. I used 2 cutoffs of the 1" square, welded them above side by side, then drilled a 12mm hole through it. The entire tube is 36" long. I put a couple smaller screws thought whatever metal I could find. You can see 1 of the screws in the photos below.

You're already this far, what's stopping you from using a Milwaukee battery to power it with?

1/2 a step ahead of you. The stock motors are 12v (battery is 14v). I already swapped out the battery connector for an xt60 and tried out a 16.8v LiPo battery. I don't think the motors are going to take 12v. I've considered a buck converter with some 20v or 40v batteries. DeWalt adaptors are about $9/each and 40v Ryobi are about $20/each. Unless I'm willing to spend a lot, buck converts suck. maybe when the Pb battery starts to die, I'll switch it.

The one I got was 6v from my parents, it couldn't get out of it's own way. Did 18v and not only can my 110lb wife drive it but I asked a 7 year old to drive it since my son is still young (not even 3) and it scared him. I'd call that a win.

I need to clean mine. It’s looking pretty best right now. I usually grind off all the random BBs, sand it with a DA and 80 grit and then wipe it down with wd40.

I'll have to hit the whole thing with some 80 grit. I just took the random rust spots off with this paint removal pad on my die grinder wiped it all down with acetone then another wipe down with wd40.

It’s pretty satisfying to get that even sheen and sanding pattern on the surface after hitting it with 80grit.

I weld on my tables, but fortunately I don't get any dingle berries.

That or when I do, they don't stick.

What does muck up my table is any steel that got splashed from my water table; that shit collects crud real quick so a quick wipe down with acetone does the trick. It's the vacuuming and sweeping the grind dust I hate most.
