2021 TRD Sport DCLB. Leer cap. I usually have a 1/2" rubber horse stall mat in the bed, cut to fit. Weighs about 75lbs. Was averaging about 11L/100km. Took it out for a few weeks, averaged 12.5L/100km. Put it back in, began averaging 11L/100km again. More weight = better fuel economy? What is going on?

Unlikely the rubber mat was the cause.

One trip on the tank by a kid or a spouse. Change in fuel. Change in regular route. Change in weather. Change in shoes. Why did you take the bed mat out? 11 L/ 100 km is pretty good. Especially with the weight of the top and mat.

You are saying that by adding 75lbs, you went from ~25mpg to ~29mpg? Try adding another 75lbs and see if you can get 33mpg.

I drive like a little old lady. Guess I’ll take the mat back out and see what happens.

I run back and forth from Delaware to N.C. regularly. Approx 320 miles each way. Been doing it with this truck for two years now. The single deciding factor in whether I get 19 or 23 is the wind. My load variance is not more a couple hundred pounds at the most.
Head winds of even 15 mph will effect my MPG more than anything. Headed down tomorrow. Will have a slight tail wind. Gonna get about 21 mpg, maybe if I grannie it, 22.5.
If I was headed back up tomorrow into a slight head wind guaranteed 19 to 20 max.
Stock DCSB OR with tonneau cover.

Edit to Add: I check my milage old school and the trucks MPG is pretty much dead on. The range computer is usually off a little to quite a bit. I think it is because of the built in Nannie feature to keep the "smart" ones from running out of gas.
