I have a 2008 access cab 2.7L, 5 speed, 4x4 with 285 75 16 tires and a three inch lift. I am going to re gear, but need some help. I have found the charts, been on here for 3 hours (not a bad thing) I simply need to know what gears? And how many hours it would take a mechanic to perform this job? I can figure out the cost from there. 4.56 seems to be the most "common" theme for this setup. would 4.88 hurt? hell i've even found 5.29? thank you all in advance!

    Here you go ECGS http://eastcoastgearsupply.com/
Have them build the third members for you and just swap them out, the exchange program is awesome and Chase guarantees his work.
I would go 4.88's if you wheel, 4.56's if you want to get somewhere near stock again.
As for 5.29's they only produce them for the rear diffs currently on the 05+ Tacomas. We thought we had found 5.29's for the front diff a few months ago turns out it was a misprint in Superiors catalog.

Has anyone here used this program? Is it really the best option for re-gearing from a quality of installation/cost basis?

I have used it and it worked out great they sent me built thirds with 4.88's and ARB's. I pulled my thirds out put them in the box and shipped them back to ECGS. This was all done while I was living in Alaska even with shipping costs it was cheaper then any local installers I could find that would guarantee their own work. I have seen and heard of to many folks having issues with gear set-ups due to installers not honoring their own work. Swapping out third members or front clamshells on these trucks is pretty straight forward and there are some great write-ups out there to look at prior to taking something like this on with that if you feel it is beyond your ability you can always have a trusted mechanic do the swap. By no means am I saying this is the only way to go but in my opinion it is a great option if a trusted local gear installer is not available.
