Olympic National Forest, overlooking the Hood Canal
    looking for a get-away-from-it-all quickie,
climbed up an unmarked logging road off a Forest Service rd to find a choice spot:

Not an apples to apples comparison but we built a platform between the front seats to bridge the gap to the back. Might be worth a try??? But ours wasn’t 75lbs. As kids got bigger I bought a 92 FJ80 Landcruiser…best decision ever. Seating for 8 or 4 with lots of room for storage. It lasted through high school, new drivers, and everything that the western slope of Colorado could throw at us. Miss it…wish I still had it.

I can't help with the two kids, Im still trying to figure that one out for myself, and those car seats take up stupid amounts of room, but we had a good sleeping platform that I carpeted in the bed of ours and our dog liked being back there it seems. we had screened windoors on the cap so there was plenty of airflow if it was needed. we also slept back there with her at nights. we had plenty of storage for week long driving/camping backpacking base camp runs under the platform. we have a 100 series land cruiser im trying to figure out right now, IF the wife ever agrees to sleep on the ground or in a fancy tent again. apparently 2 10lb babies in 2 years will make sleeping less easy. my bad.

squeezed in one more "get-away-from-it-all" before a forecasted spate of bad weather,

found a cozy pulloff overlooking the Strait of Juan De Fuca:

Exact same situation over here. Duke rides in a bed in the back when we go camping. I have a single bed platform that I run most of the time and then I have a camping tote and cooler that I put in the bed as well. That leaves exactly enough space for his bed that I cut just a little bit to fit around the wheel well. Honestly now that he’s 13 I think he prefers this to the backseat. It’s flatter and more comfortable for him. When we load up at camp he goes right up the tailgate and requests help for his 13yr old back legs, which I happily provide!!!

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
This is what I will likely end up needing to do. For now I took out the 40% seat and also the storage cubby behind it and am in the process of building the dog a spot here. It isn't the biggest but I think it will work. Ended up buying two car seats that are supposed to both fit on the 60% seat.

besides the geese and ducks, numerous seagulls were wailing, making for a somewhat incongruous milieu:
    ll4.5.jpg

initially, a quiet 3/4 moon and stars night; 10PM it becomes very windy with spectacular lightning as some T-storms roll through,
at times the truck would violently wrench combined with a sensation of slightly being lifted off the ground- what a trip!

No issues stealth camping there? I always figured they knock on the door in the middle of the night and make me move along. It is fairly remote there though.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!

it was a good spot especially if you have a lot of trucks with you. only negative is it's right off the main trail so you might hear other trucks coming up the trail. but we had zero traffic when we went during the week. Burns Canyon Trail 2N02
