its the 2.7, there really isnt any rust, it was a nor-cal pickup for most of its life, i just brought it up to oregon, but it should be fine, as long as i dont move back to the coast. but i do have an '84 k5 blazer that is absolutely rotting away.

My 2002 2.7 has 196534 with just general maintenance but the coil packs have proven to be disposable.

I just hit 1000 miles. I seem to be getting slightly better fuel mileage..... but I can not back that up with any real data.

well I still have my '02 prerunner and it's now got 148,000. No problems. I have only replaced shocks, spark plugs, belts and the air/fuel sensor. Thinking about changing the catalytic converter.

I can't say that they are actual miles the speedo is off due to the gears, with 33's and 4.88's I would say it was 7 to 10 mph (fast) going to 35's now with 4.88's it is only off by 5 mph or so (fast). The truck was purchased new in September 2008 and I regeared it at 37k originally so I may not know the actual miles ever. The truck has made 7 trips from Alaska to the lower 48 (AK to NM,MT,ID) now and has performed flawlessly the 2.7L is a great motor.

I have a 1997 Tacoma with the 2.7L 4cyl and it just passed 240,000 miles. Runs perfect and the only thing ever replaced on the motor, was a water pump a few years ago.

if you talking about the 2nd gen taco i have an auto tranny.

i have a little over 80k in a 2008 i havent had any problems with it at all and still runs like a champ and the tranny shifts smoothly if you are looking at an auto more so than a stick id go for it
