I will just get bolt on rock sliders, thought about the welded ones, but most say to bolt them on, removable in case of painting or accident

Depends on if you want to weld something to your frame or not. And remember anywhere you remove the e-coat on the frame to weld to it, removes the rust protection. So you will have to make sure you repaint with a suitable paint to prevent rust.

Bolt in applications are normal industry standard anymore. Ease of install, easy removal, etc.
Just be careful on the materials used, there are ones out there that use HREW tubing, which isn't as strong comparing to DOM tubing - we utilize DOM and 2X2 Hitch steel along with all the fun reinforcements and gussets to help ensure you can bounce your truck off a rock without ever having to worry about folding the sliders in to your body.

I have a couple raw sets in stock and some going through powder coating right now.

Shoot me a DM if you want, I can get you hooked up :)

I am not sure what you are asking here? Are you asking which folks prefer, or just telling us? Either way there is a wide spectrum; there are some very stout frame bolt on options, and some pretty flimsy shit, that is more of step bar, that doesn't do that well either. Of course everyone's needs are different here.
Weld-ons, to me, are for some serious off roaders.

I have Bolt-ons that are pretty stout /rigid. I've not banged them around on rocks, but there is ZERO flex when I've used as a lift point. I do not think the bolted connection is deficient for the purpose...
And yes, they can be removed leaving the attachment points intact.

I've seen the small square tubing being used as the welded connection straight to the middle of the chassis C Channel which creates a point load on the web of the channel section upon impact. Not a great connection design that one... (I would use a fully gusseted plate).

Not to get too much into the weeds - Steel can also get brittle / crack at weld points. - For a small truck it is likely of no big consequence as it (most likely) will not fail going down the road (most likely upon a rock impact), but I prefer the bolted connection for sliders.

Said that - I am not Rock crawling the Tacoma... (or anything else). I just wanted incidental protection when off-road.

Someone may enlighten me of any rock slider particular considerations that I may be missing.

I had previously asked a question about welding them, but didn’t know how to delete it, so I rephrased it. Thanks for the input, bolt on it will be.

Bunch of stuff bolted on, some cool, some not
I'll dog pile on the thread, I've got the Cali Raised bolt on sliders and have had zero issues. They are stout and have taken a beating, still as straight as when they came from the factory, wish I could say the same thing for my diff skid plate :D

Random stuff. Oh! and converted to non ADD 4x4.
Friday yet? Lol. It’s a preference. Either or are good. As everything, inspection and maintenance will make them last longer. I personally recommend paint over powder coat on things that are meant to take an impact.

Bilstein 6112 front / 5100 rear (extended) shocks, Headstrong AAL, Firestone airbags, 4.88 gears, OME Carrier bearing drop kit, Aluminum 1/4" skids (engine to transfer). Custom sliders (1.75" HREW tube w/ 3/16" base plates). Custom front bumper and high clearance rear bumper (1/4" steel plate, 1.75" tube.) Apex 5500 winch w/synthetic line (36lbs) and required accessories for an underpowered winch (snatch blocks and extra line.) Tekonsha P3 brake controller, remote start, any-time-backup camera w/ front facing camera, Leer 100R shell (w/e-track single slot tie-down mounts for removable Yakima EasyTop.) Cat shields by CaliRaised. Husky liners, window tint, heated seat (passenger only.) Relentless bed rail brackets with QuickFists (shovel/axe/fire extinguisher.) Hondo Garage Un-holey vent mount. Anytime rear with front facing camera. Billet front seat risers. Viair 88p. 265/75r16 Goodyear Ultra-terrain tires.
If someone wants to pay more for DOM (drawn over mandrel) tube vis HREW tube I've got no problem with that.. but telling people to avoid HREW for sliders and bumpers doesn't make sense.
