First time pressing in a headset, little nerve racking but it came out alright. Found a set of wheels locally on pink bike, waiting for some other parts to show up.

i was watching dj brandt build up his new bike on youtube the other day. he spit on it for lube then took a soft mallet and just banged the headset in, lol.

 

I had to do the same when I built my ripley last year haha...teaches patience for sure haha

bike is looking sick though!

 

Of course, first thing I did!

I used a little grease and a press I got off Amazon. Worked like a charm

 

White & tan wall.

 

I was never a tan wall fan until I put them on a white bike.

Tan walls are dope, but I always shy away from them.

It's a transition rapture. Powdercoated frame and custom graphics. It fits in.....

 

is that a cascade link on your patrol? is it worth it?

 

Just put a fresh set of tan wall Vittorias on my Instinct and dropped almost two pounds from the Minions that were on it before.

My gravel bike is running the tan mullet until next week when I put a new set of tan wall Pirellis on.

My Bianchi has always had tan walls and always will. Brand new set of GP5000s

 

It's a scout! And yes. I've had it on my older scout, and I have it on my current scout and spire. All of my friends run them, it's a great upgrade

 

Or in DD casing... I'd rock a set, but Assegai in DD, or at least EXO+ Grip is tire of choice.

Conti is winning me over though. And no tan walls from them.

 

Tan walls are great looking until they get old - I still run them on my gravel bike and my full suspension, but after a season they get beat up and start fading fast. Dirt and mud get mashed into the scrapes and is hard to clean out. I used a magic eraser one time and it cleaned them right up to sparkling, but seems ridiculous to put that much elbow grease into a mountain bike tire.

 

Hit them with Simple Green and a soft brush every now and then.

Also depends on what the sidewall is actually made of. Some are much easier to clean, and keep clean, than others. I had a set of road tires with actual tan cotton sidewalls....If you rode them in the rain the water coming off the brake pads would stain them.

I keep all my bikes pretty damn clean though so keeping a tan wall clean is pretty easy.

 

Tan walls looks great but the sidewalls are way too compliant/flexible for me and felt super sketchy at speed
