Really just depends on what you can come up with for a pan and depending on how hard you are spinning the motor.
Watching some fast YouTube drag racers pulling the chute at the end of their run and then they show data from the run. The data shows lose of oil pressure for a split second from the oil sloshing forward in the pan as they slow. Like I said if you can come up with a good design pan with trays you most likely be Ok. Again depending on how hard you are pushing. Run 37” rubber the tires rubbing and slowing you down or something smaller you be bouncing at a high rate of speed. See if you can find some racers to see if they are all running dry sumps. Chris welded up a pan that looks like it could hold 5 gallons in oil. Hahaha…

Here’s a good video and this guy has a good head…

Yeah I’ve thought about designing mounts and a pan for the masses but I would have to do an auto swap to design them, where mine sits isn’t a good candidate since with my manual I can put the engine in a different spot. But the issue with the pan is the cost.. to design one like mine currently (about the best solution I can come up with) would be in the 500+ region… having a full fabbed aluminum pan gets expensive fast.

I’m thinking about modifying mine. Didn’t you have an extra one that you modified?

    Hey,
This is the Gentleman who refreshed my L33. It’s all he does is build LS & LT engines. His father taught him how to build engines then sadly passed away in an accident. Van is very good and honest young man. I’m betting he should have a few oil pans laying around. I have two you can have but they are in Sunset TX…

I have a front sump, I was more looking for something that was already modified to clear the stock tacoma front differential.

    Hmmm…
Chris / tacotunner06, I may be confused but didn’t you modify a Truck Rear Sump pan? :notsure:
Also could the gentleman where I met you modify a pan? His steel TiG welding was incredible.

Davis, is or can the gentleman and or gentlemen at 454 Motorsports mount the engine and trans? Just level and center mostly everything and securely weld into place. From the pictures you have posted looks like it would be a cake walk for him and or them…

Im sure he could, there's no doubt he'd be able to, whether he wants to or not would be another story. I'd have to get on the schedule separately from this one to have it done, and I want the truck running asap.

In all honesty, I'd love to just have it done, but I want some skin in the game for this build. I want to say I LS swapped my truck, not I had my truck LS swapped.

Yes I Fully understand that! My wiring skills flat suck‼️ I don’t have the proper tools for welding and a lot of the work skills that comes along with a project like this. I don’t even want to say what I paid to have a fan shroud water cut and welded. I supplied everything but the water jet & welding and paid less for a new MISHIMOTO radiator. I could do a lot of the work and I have friends that would help but they have their own life’s. Just as long as I know I have more skills than wanna be Tacomaholic….

If you had it cut where it needed extra clearance and he just had to weld it I’m sure he could… he does really good aluminum tig work too…

Any chance that a batwing oil pan from a C5 would work?

Funny enough this LS6 came out of a c5 Z06. And I don’t think so, I think it’ll hit the diff in a worse way. The current front sumo just barely touched the breather vent, I imagine the batwing will touch the clamshell

Ok, what about an oil pan from a 4WD '07+ tahoe/yukon? IIRC, their oil pans were made to clear the front axle as well. I also think Trailblazer 4WD/AWD the axle went thru the oil pan, but i really dont think you wanna go that route.

Anyone in the 12v Clean Wire group on FB?

I just picked up a power trays setup for my switch pros and a bunch of equipment to full redo the wiring in the engine bay. Going to be cutting off all of the harness connectors on the OEM Toyota harness with the exception of the starter and alternator wires, for the most part. I don't think there's much else on that harness I need to keep.

The Holley system im using is discontinued, part number 550-609, but thank goodness there are still some supported products for it. One thing I've been pushing off figuring out is the throttle situation. The LS6 comes with a 3 bolt Throttle body. The Holley system CAN support drive by wire, but only with an extra harness and and a 4 bolt throttle body. I bought a new 4 bolt TB and a pedal out of a CTS, got an adapter for the 3 to 4 bolt TB, and the necessary harness for the Holley. Glad thats finally sorted out, at this point I think the only thing left are hoses, and a cooling system.

Might need ANOTHER master cylinder, I bought the master cylinder out of an automatic tacoma, but now that the truck has disc brakes in the rear, I think the proportioning valve isn't setup right for my config. Any suggestions here?
